I'm looking to get my sister a bow for target shooting. I'm looking for a good bow for beginners:
  1. Recurve (No compound)
  2. Fairly Light draw (30lbs max, the lighter the better, she's a godawful shot and I don't want her to have to go chasing after arrows a mile away, as funny as that might be :p)
  3. Somewhere in the $100 give or take a bit range up to $150 (I could go higher, but I'm not looking to spend $300)
  4. Something that won't snap, crackle or pop causing injuries

First off, try browsing around the Three Rivers Archery website. They have a nice selection, and I'm sure you can find something in your price range. Consider a youth bow, for the smaller of stature and those just learning to shoot. Take this one, for example:

Looks like it might fit the bill.

PSE Buckeye jr is a good starter recurve if you aren't sure that she'll stick with it. Comes in #25. My little brother has one. It's available at cabelas.

You didn't mention how old she is.If she is old enough to take care of a bow and to want to be a serious target shooter,I would try for a Quinn or entyr level ILF.Either will be around $200 but much better than anything you can get from 3rivers or PSE for the same money.
Also might take a look at tradgang and leatherwall for used bows.Just check out who you are dealing with. Most times if they have been around a while with several posts you won't have any problems.

Next make sure you get properly spined arrows as she will never be able to do well with even an expensive bow and the wrong arrows.

Samik Sage,Draw weight as low as 20 lb.around $129 new. It's a takedown with limbs available up to 60 lb so it is adaptable for other uses/archers.

I'm probably going to get her the Bear Titan bow. It looks like my old bow, only a lot better, my old one is a Walmart brand youth bow, which held up surprisingly well, I still use it when I'm entertaining the idea of vollying arrows, plus I've been pretty well stuck with it lately, since someone, stole/hid/misplaced my good lefty Bear that I got at a yard sale.
