Looking for a bowie knife maker

I have looked a for perfect bowie knife for a long time but never satisfied my taste. I like the traditional design but also looking for modern benefits. Two knives caught my eye recently. Pics attached shows what I am looking for. I am wandering the AG Russell California Bowie made out of 154CM at or over 59RC makes it a bit brittle as it's over 8 inches long and not thick enough at that hardness (less than 3/16"). But, love the design as it's a balanced blade (hold it on 2011 bladeshow). Now, Fallkniven NL2 is also a great knife but hate leather washer handle and VG10 steel. that edge also hard to sharpen in the field. Let me know if you guys know who makes similar knife but without the disadvantages. Prefer Micarta handle and full guard. Plus like the idea of the sharpe false edge.SWEDNL2EL.jpgSMR-773LEO.jpg

have you looked at cold steel's offerings? specifically the laredo bowie.

another idea is to visit the custom knife makers section and have a bowie made to your specifications.

Bagwell still makes them but serious caller only. If you want to drop about 3 or 4 bills he is the man. For a few more dollars John Fitzen.

By 3 or 4 bills, he means 3 or4 THOUSAND, not hundred.

If you are lucky, and can wait for a time... Bill will make you a "Hell's Belle" Bowie. It is by far the best fighting knife IMHO as the design, construction, blade length, balance and feel are all perfect. Sure it will set you back 4 to 5k depending on what you want (i.e. a folded blade, cross guard and fittings forged from Bill's Satan's Lace billet... mine is a 12 incher). But, be forewarned, Bill is a no B-S old school knife maker... he pioneered the ABS and was one of the first four M/S, and he was forging folded steel blades back when everyone else was wondering how to make them. His character is gruff to those he is not familiar with and he does not waste time with those who are not up front, so have an idea of what you want before you call and pay attention to his suggestions because that's years of experience talking... so, you had better listen. He does not tolerate price lowballers either... so don't haggle prices... you'll be talking to dead air. Now with all that being said, if you want the last Bowie knife that you will ever need and will cherish always... PM me and I'll send you a telephone number.
