The wife surprised me yesterday by telling me that she is going to buy me a bowie knife for Christmas. Last year she bought me a ATC Tomahawk. The only problem is that I don't know the first thing about bowie knives. Any suggestions for something around $150.

At that price point, you might want to look at the Ontario Bagwell Bowies. They have several models taht differ in length, guard style, and finish.

Another option is the Cold Steel Traimaster; a veritable workhorse of a knife.

Entrek aslo has a pretty good line that includes at least one Bowie.

Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works makes several excellent hand forged Bowies.

Do a search for Bowie in A.G. Russell's site, lots of choices there. This one is not necessarily a Bowie but I've had my eye on it for a while. http://sphynx.agrknives.com/agrussell/ru-44bme.html

Have fun choosing!

I agree with the above...The Ontario Bagwell (Hell's Belle) is the one to get.

Ask Keith M. Bowies seem to be his drug of choice.

Someone help me out here. Whats that new coffin handled Cold Steel bowie called? I can't think of a more traditional shaped production bowie.

Thanks for all the replies. I was leaning towards the Ontario Bagwell, but the ones at A.G. Russell look pretty cool. I still have a few months to make a decision. Thanks again.
