Hey guys, I've been looking everywhere for a certain type of Boy Scouts of America knife. Can't find exactly, or even close, to what I'm looking for. Please let me know if you guys own or have any recommendation...

Looking for:

Medium / Large folder
Locking - doesn't matter what type
BSA or Eagle Scout insignia / emblem
Single blade preferred, double is ok
No plastic crap scales
Looking for a nice classic style

Thanks!!!

A few years ago Case was making a line of nice bone-handled Scout knives. Don't know if they had a locking pattern or not, but those are about the only recent BSA knives I know of that were decent quality and had non-plastic handles.

Good news, I see one on this page with blue bone and a locking blade.

You don't like plastic handles, but the only other decent BSA knives in recent history are from Victorinox.

If it's for a gift, you might consider something vintage. Lots of great older knives out there, some official BSA and others simply scout-themed.

Here's one example from my collection:

First time poster here, so please be gentle.

I used to be a scout for a long time and when I volunteered recently to be a (I don't know what you call it in the U.S., but I would say Troop leader or something) I bought the Victorinox Rangerwood 55.

It is a very big folder, but it's awesome to hold due to the carefully shaped handles. I believe they are made of walnut wood.

I believe it meets all your demands except the logo.

I had foregone SAKs for a long time due to them often lacking a locking mechanism. This one has a locking mechanism, and it is disengaged by pressing the logo, which is a nice touch. I am very impressed by the improvements that have been made to SAKs in the last 15 years. This knife is awesome, looks classy and reasonably priced.

The only downside is that you have to touch it up a little more often (or so I've heard, I haven't had mine THAT long yet.)

I hope my recommendation will be useful in your considerations. I am curious to see what you will end up acquiring.

Go to the Boy Scouts of America site.
Go to their "Shop" page. Under camping, look for knives.
In the knives, look for "BSA Small Lock-Back Knife" and you will see a wood scaled lock back with nickle bolsters.

FWIW, I don't think scouts need to have an official BSA knife. IME, kids have to be a bit older with good hand strength and coordination to handle lock backs safely. I've started my son off with Opinel's for this reason. Very safe locking mechanism to open and more importantly, to close. He's 14 now and can handle a lock back but prior to that, only slip joints and the Opinel.
