Hello guys!
Before I want to introduce myself, I´m from Portugal and I´m a hunter and I love to spend time in the wood gathering, fishing, hunting, carving, almost everything outdoors related!
I´m looking for a knife but I have a low budget of 30$ and I only have some companies to choose from, the best options I´ve seen are the Moras which look good knifes and the Magnum Boker that are realy cool, low price but I´m not sure about their quality and durability...any one have tryed them? Overall what are the knifes in this price range that you recomend me?
Thanks allot and sorry for this questions just want a bit of advice from the pros!

Welcome, friend from Portugal! For $30, Mora is definitely one of your best options. I'd recommend a Companion model (they come in both stainless and carbon steel versions). Another knifemaker you may want to check out is J. Marttiini (of Finland) - they have a very affordable line (about the same price as the Mora's, $25-35USD) of hunting/fishing/utility knives that I have had very good experience with in the woods. Here's my Big Game model in stainless steel (and she comes with a good sheath, too):

+1 on a Martinni. I have a small leuku and a fillet knife from the '60's and still use both.

I'm always a step away from buying a Boker Magnum. Let us know if you get one.

Becker 15 is a bit more- if you can find one. Great all around fixed blade.

Wow !

Thanks allot guys I will take a look to the Marttini!! I've also looked at the CS Pendleton Lite Hunter it also looks a good knive! Any one have tryed it?

Real quick...for what you want I'd recommend a leuku of some sort. If you don't find anything suitable in the Martinnis then pull up a few on Google. There are some really nice ones out there--some of which are paired with a puuko for an even more versatile setup. The leuku has always been my favorite for hard-core bushcraft/survival/SHTF.

However, if hunting/skinning is going to predominate your activities then I'd go with the blade style of the Martinni pictured above.

Good luck.

Becker BK15 would be my pick, but they are sitting around $35 shipped, if you shop around.

Aside from that, look into Hultafors as a competitor to Mora. There are a lot of Hultafor owners that have modded the handles to suit their hand size better, so that is always an option.

I just picked up the lite hunter and am enjoying it a lot. Haven't had a chance to really put it through it's paces yet though.

I've been using an Old Hickory Butcher with the 7" blade, 1095 carbon steel. Dirt cheap, very tough. Mine came very dull, but after some time with a file and stones/sandpaper, it shaves hair and curls wood effortlessly from tip to handle. Long enough to easily limb trees, light enough to carry on my belt all day with never a thought, my go-to knife for every woods task. I made my sheath as it's pretty simple, but you can find sheaths on an auction site pretty cheap. Given it's a pretty popular bushcrafting choice in the US, there's plenty of info out there for modding or sheath making.

I've also been eyeing that Boker Magnum ADC you mentioned. I like the blade design and the overall look of the knife. A lot of the Boker Magnum knives are identical to what's marketed here under the Schrade brand. They have a pretty solid reputation as an inexpensive but quality knife. I'm sure it will do the job.

I will second the Mora suggestion as well - I've got a Mora Companion in carbon and it is a very good knife and very inexpensive.

I think very highly of Marttiini knives, having used their fillet knives my whole life. If you find one locally that you like I think you'd be very happy with it.

BTW, Leuku is simply a long Puukko :) Typically carbon steel, scandi grind, working woods knife.

Condor Bushlore is $37 on Amazon and seems to get a lot of respect from those who use it. I have no personal experience though.
If I were looking for a knife in that price range, just based on the reviews of others, I'd give the Condor a very very serious look.
