ok i am looking for a kabar style combat knife like this
5_11280.jpg

about 10" total length with a black or tan handle either aluminium or some type of ruber or plastic... i dont like the "leather" or wood or other natural handles and plain non serrated blade
i just can't justify spending the money a kabar costs since i wont be using it a lot, for a EDC knife i have no problem spending that kind of money
but i also dont want one with crap steel, like the $10 ones on ebay that just say "stainless steel"
i dont care if its stainless or not and i would like to spend $20-$30. and yes i know you get what you pay for but in this case since it will be a low use knife i am willing to accept a lower quality knife
any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I would look at Ontario. Anything that costs less might be questionable in quality.

And let me add- if it doesn't have to look exactly like a Kabar then Cold Steel has some that you can get for low prices that are very tough, for instance the GI Tanto.

Ontario definitely comes to mind. If you want to see the many different styles, look up the Spec Plus series. Just consider that the prices, while lower than those of a Ka-Bar, won't be that much lower.

While cheap Chinese brands like MTech don't get much of a positive response around here, it is interesting to note that some of their fixed blade knives - specifically those formerly sold as "Hard Use Knives" by one online retailer in particular - were proven in torture test reviews to hold up to serious abuse extremely well. I bought a couple myself, although I must admit they've never seen any use and only rarely seen daylight for that matter. While I can't comment on the durability, I will say that neither of mine has any of the weird wiggles and rattles often present in cheap knives.

My large tanto kabar like the one you have pictured was only $50.... You want to spend $30 but can't justify adding another $20 and getting the real deal? $20 is like what, 2 hours worth if work if you only make $10 an hour. Just get the kabar man.

It's $54 on amazon, exact one you pictured.

Just get it. We're talking an extra $25. That's chump change. You'll be happier with it

Yes, save up and buy the real deal.

Also, links to the big river retailer are a no-no.

The Ontario Spec+ USMC copy is a great knife at a killer price. My son's came razor sharp and the fit and finish was very nice. The sheath isn't fancy, but it works well for field use.

the only thing i can find refers to solicitation* and asking members to click on a link in order to gain something like an increased "likes" on your page. I couldnt find anything saying its not ok to post a product link as an answer to a question.
if you could let me know where to find the rule you are talking about i would greatly appreceate it,
*here is the rule i referenced in my post, maybe im just reading it wrong but i dont think posting a link in response to a question violates this rule
Solicitation:
Asking a member to click on a link, subscribe to a channel or website, provide feedback, donate money or goods, or “Like” a page on Facebook is considered solicitation. Our members should not be subjected to this type of spam especially under the guise that they may win something. Spark (Site Admin.) does occasionally authorize solicitations for carefully selected causes. Persons seeking such an exemption MUST apply to Spark and MUST wait to receive that authorization before making any such posts.

i also dont think that post would be considered "deal spotting" which isnt allowed. i think if it was posted without my question being asked then yea it would but as a response i personally dont feel it is

Nope, it is deal spotting. Plus, our sponsored dealers are trustworthy.
