Hi,

I am new to the knife world and am looking for a couple recommendations from some of that are more knowledgeable on the subject.

The first type of knife that I want is a 3.5" to 5" fixed blade with something like a drop point style preferred. My price range is under $70.

A couple knives that I found that I like are these Benchmade knives:

I am also looking for a folder to replace my Gerber Paraframe. I would like it to be somewhere around 3" and $20-30 so that I won't be afraid to use it. For this one, I like the Spyderco Cara Cara and a couple of the cheaper Red level Benchmades.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you can make on some good knives for me.

Since you posted this to the traditional forum... ;)

Welcome to the forum.

Benchmade make excellent quality, value for money knives and so do Spyderco. If any knives take your fancy from either, or both, of these companies, go for it. You will get a zillion suggestions for knives from other reputable makers but if you've already identified some you like from BM or Spyderco I'd say go for it.

You might also want to look at Kershaw and Buck.

definetly..kershaw and bucks are good...probably go with the benchmade griptilian fixed, cause it has a better steel, but that rant is also nice..it's all personal preference personally...haha, that's funny

I have combined the identical thread originally posted in the Traditional forum with this one. Please don't cross-post without at least giving one thread a chance to get a few good answers.
