Hey ya'll I'm looking for a couple new blades. One for everyday edc, and one for a dress knife that looks nice for more formal occasions.

Budget for each knife is anywhere up to $100 EACH but am willing to go a little higher on edc and lower on the dress as it will not be used as often.

Specs on edc- Pretty small: 2.5 -3 inch blade. Equipped with a steel that retains an edge very well as I am not proficient at sharpening. Definitely not something that is one hand opening..I'd prefer non assisted but again willing to compromise. Frame lock liner lock axis whatever I just want something I can beat on that will stay fairly sharp. Weight and handle material not super important either.

Dress knife: also small ish. Under 3.5 in for sure 2.5 -3 preferred. Something that looks attractive or fancy. Fairly lightweight. Something that isn't a mainstream knife that you see all the time.

ZT0770CF will do both~ CF. Elmax, 3.25"

My dress/suit knife is a LionSteel Opera Cocobolo $79.95 @BladeHQ

Office duty edc's in your range:

Spyderco Dragonfly or Delica in ZDP-189

What kind of sharpener do you use? The longer a steel's edge retention, the more difficult to sharpen is generally the rule.

Yeah I have been looking at the 0770cf and that is at the top of my list so far.

Now that I looked wood handle or scales is not my thing, though that knife is beautiful.
For office duty I cut heavy packing tape and cardboard all day at the minimum.

For a sharpener I use the lansky deluxe system.

A year ago I switched from the lansky to the spyderco sharpmaker and it made a world of a different. I have the ultra fine rods for it as well.

That's another thing I've been looking for...I have had terrible luck with the lansky.

A mini-ritter griptilian in M390 may be a good work knife for you. You can get them from knifeworks or me as I have a brand new one I'm going to sell. :)

For a dress/EDC look at the Small Maxpedition Excelsa. An all titanium handle that looks nice and would go with any type of clothes, and D2 steel that will hold a nice edge. You can get it for $107.99 on Blade HQ.

If you're set on a separate knife for each situtation....
You could also look at the Spyderco Native 5 Lightweight. Light FRN handles, nice lock back, and s35vn steel. Holds an edge like s30v and is a bit easier to sharpen. This would make a good EDC. Can be found at Blade HQ for $87.95.

For a second knife that is mainly for dress purposes, take a look at the Buck Lux Pro. s30v steel, Carbon Fiber and steel handles, flipper, and a pocket clip. Can be found at Blade HQ for $79.95.

Or take a good look at the Kershaw Skyline Damascus. It goes for $57.99 on Blade HQ.

As stated above, the small Excelsa would fill both roles very well. Why not buy
one and try it in every situation before you buy a second knife?
