i had several knives stolen in the early 90's that i had bought in the mid to late 80's.i don't know the brands of them so i am hopeing for some help in identifing them so i can replace the ones i liked most.the first one was a boot knife that looked just like the kershaw trooper only no laynard hole and it had stacked leather washer handle.the other one was called the kangaroo and was also a boot knife but smaller than the other one with a wood slab handle like the western knife had.it also had a little knife in the handle that pulled out.the last one was a butterfly knife.not a great built one but not bad,it said ninja on the blade and the handle had black plastic inserts.the blade was pretty thick but got loose fast.i bought all three at a gibsons store in liberal kansas (kinda like a walmart)from 1984 to 1988.any info on what brand or where i could buy replacements would be great.none of them were very expensive then but who knows now.thanks in advance for any help.

Although inexpensive and mass-produced, those off-brand knives can be very difficult to track down.

I once had a small collection of 13 knives stolen. It took 13 years to find identical replacements of each, or about one knife per year. eBay is your friend, as is patience.

Good Luck

My collection was stolen back in the mid-90's, and I've managed to replace some of them, and several came from ebay. Most of what I had was pretty inexpensive, and some were my "mall-ninja" specials from childhood.

As Bob W said, "ebay is your friend." I'll eventually find duplicates all of the knives I had but one, a unique handmade bowie/hunter.

It'll take time, but sooner or later you'll find them on ebay, or other smaller auction sites. I'd suggest looking a "lot" auctions, where a group of knives are sold together. What you're describing sounds like that's where they'll be.

thx - cpr
