http://www.amazon.com/ThruNite-TN12-Edition-Single-Flashlight/dp/B00I1WVRBK So I was looking for a new light....I had a nitecore d10 that just stopped working...have no idea why it crapped out....anyway I wanted to upgrade to something brighter anyway.....found this thrunite that I read a lot of reviews on....I like everything about it ....

The problem is I'm not big on flashlights, can anyone recommend a good charger for the 123 batteries I would need for the thrunite?...I'll be honest I've read on candlepower forums and they get a little too technical for me....I could care less how many kilo whatever's are pulsing around.....I'd like a charger with at least 4 spots so I can have an extra set of batteries for the light....thanks for any help guys....ryan

If your going rechargeable, why not use an 18650?
For the charger, I use the NiteCore I-4 (which will handle rcr123 batteries, if you go that route)

When looking into a light, you should ask yourself "where am I going with it?" That would help determine how many Lumens [formerly Candlepower] you might want.

My personal duty light is an original streamlight Stinger rechargeable but I replaced the incandescent bulb with an LED replacement head. The upgrade was to a 300 Lumen output and it's pretty much "holy crap!" bright. Remember, I have to use this in city as well as chasing knuckleheads through the small patches of woods around town.

So....you may want to consider that anything less than 150 Lumens is probably not going to do you much good...but again, that depends on what you intend to illuminate with it.

If you are talking "all around, in city....perhaps a few nights in the woods...."......I highly suggest anything 220 Lumens or greater.

Here's a video of what my light looks like versus the original version [no, it's not me but is the video that sold me on it]:

The TN12 is a great little light. There are times that I wish it didn't have 5 modes to pass through...but I rarely need to go from the lowest to the highest quickly, and I actually do use all of them. Even using primary (cr123a) batteries, medium is bright enough for most things; but it's nice to have the option of going brighter when I feel the need (or desire).
If you made your selection based on the numbers, remember that you won't get max output from the 123s. I use Olight 3400 mAh 18650s in my bigger lights, and I've started running them in this as well. (I do keep a couple pairs of primaries in my pack, just in case, though)

Is this the one you're talking about?..
Yes - I've been very happy with it.
.I guess I don't have a preference on batteries- why would 18650's be better?....ryan
Brighter light and longer run times. One battery instead of two.
The down side is that they're more expensive...but you'll charge them less often, so they'll last longer.
For me, it was an easy choice because I have bigger lights that use them. If you're going to use the light regularly, it's worth going with rechargeable. If it's going to sit unused for 6 months, get 5 minutes of action, then sit again; I'd probably just use primaries - they're inexpensive, and a longer shelf life.

Thanks, if I go with that light I'll definately get a charger for the 18650's ....thanks for the info...ryan
