Looking for a custom necker...

Okay I need help looking for a neck knife. I was daydreaming about taking off the plastic scales on a schrade sharpfinger, having micarta scales put on, and getting a neck kydex sheath. However, I realized that it would be better if I looked into the custom realm first for something similar. So can anyone list a bunch of makers to consider?
BTW, doesn't the sharpmaker look wicked

PS, just to clarify: Looking for Hunters/Utility knives around 100 or less (preferably less). Thanks and keep them comming.

I think Mike Cooper (L6STEEL) is getting another batch of neckers ready. He includes a kydex sheath with them, and they are made of 154-CM I think. Check with him for a great stainless necker!

Hey Crayola,
does Mike have a website? With some pics? Or should I just ask in chat? I've heard good things about his nekkers. Since 80% of my knives are nekkers, I'm always lookin for new ones!

Quarterstaff, I have the Livesay Woo and "Little Pecker" neck knives, both are great (1095 steel - parkerized). Flat, light, tough, excellent Kydex, and cut like crazy. I also have a couple from running dog (Mike Murphy - 1084 steel, black moly coated - excellent cord wrap handle, outstanding sheaths) - those are great neck knives too. I just got my Camillus Arclite (Darrel Ralph design) yesterday. It's absolutely incredible to me what you can get for $20!!! Don't let the 420HC steel turn you away from this one. Camillus did a great job cooking this steel, it takes a wicked edge from my DMT, and for a stainless, 420HC is relatively tough...

I gotta check L6steel's stuff myself....heard good things...

I offer my three small utilities with both belt sheaths and Kydex neck sheaths. Below is my Model 3. ATS-34, 416 dovetailed bolsters, satin finish and blue stabilized spalted maple slabs. Asking price $150.

The RW Clark knives look very nice !!
I can also recommend Neil Blackwood's. I have a talonite neck knife of his that is superb in every way. He can do something similar in other materials too, and he's a real pleasure to work with.
I also wouldn't overlook Polkowski's. Very light and very, very good. In the USA, Les Robertson should be the first place you look. In Canada, Proedge may have one.
There are many many more customs out there. Bud Nealy for sure, with the probably the most versatile carry system there is. Greg Lightfoot, directly from him or from Les or Proedge. I suggest you also look at the Canadian Knifemakers Guild members page and check through there before buying a production knife. The Canucks do great work and the prices are hard to beat.

Take a stroll over to newt.livesay.com

He has a bunch of neat little pieces that are WELL worth your attention...Personally, although a little large for an EDC Neck Knife...I love the Bow Hunting Buddy with the green handle...Newt's handles are always first rate.

Allen Blade's little guy, I forgot the name of the knife, is cute, and looks functional.

I usually carry a Lynn Griffith Patrolman in standard setup around my neck. Light, reasonably tough, and great grip-work. Only problem, and I say this with tongue in cheek, is that the knife is a little over priced. Having said that...I have carried it nearly everyday since receiving it from Lynn...and Lynn is a nice guy to talk to as well...doing the math...it works out to about $.75 a day...worth it I think...and going down daily!

or

Gary Bradburn makes a great neck knife, very functional. I just bought one from a member, and I like it alot, I am going to sell it to finance another item, but that is another story.... I will most likely acquire another down the road. I am very impressed with it's simplicity and functionality.

My 'perfect' neck knife is in the works right now, I am sending a design to Bill Siegle. It will be cordwrapped, a simple clip point utility knife. Sheathing is important.

Allen Blade's is called the Chipmunk. It is a very small knife that cuts real BIG. Allen has a Kydex carry system with it that can be switched from belt carry to neck carry in a second or two. The knife carries very well in both configurations.

Allen is just about caught up, so take a look at his website. I don't have the link on me at the moment, but a quick search in this forum or the Custom Knife Forum should turn it up in a jiffy. His prices are just too good to pass up.

Very interesting. Any other neck knive makers out there? I want to get a good look at what else is in the market today. thanks
