So I'm looking for a dagger.
But I have no idea where to start looking.

Any help? (vague, eh? :P)

I have no idea how much daggers can cost.
Most daggers that I see are all custom made.

My price range is usually capped at $300 CDN. Anything more, and I can get myself a Glock. :p

Let us know what you have it mind for your dagger. Is it for collecting or using? Are you looking for something like this beautiful Buck Small Damascus Dagger? It is just within your price range. Do a search at www.1sks.com on "dagger" and you will get a sense of what is available. And 1sks is one of the good places to shop. Want to stick closer to home? Wally Hayes lives just up the 401 from you in Orleans. Check out the
Viking Dagger in the middle of the page. Probably of out your price range but he might have something else for you. Good luck.

Now you have me looking at daggers... doh!

How's the heat treat on Hayes' knives?

To be completely honest, I want a dagger that will compliment my stainless SIG 220... As well as something that looks nice.

I don't like the ancient look of the above daggers. And something large would be nice. - 7.5" to 9" blade. Close to 12" overall length.
A great heat treat is a must.

How about a Randall Fighting Stiletto, more then $300 i'm sorry to say.

Here's one with micarta handle and a 7" SS blade from Nordic Knifes, price just under $400 and a long wait and they you can get a 8" blade if you like.

APM, *jawdrop*

That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for!!!
But $410 CDN MSRP... That's steep.
I wonder how much a used or factory 2nd goes for...

The Randall site doesn't mention many specifics. Like Hardness or blade material...

Absolutely beautiful dagger.

Schtick - Randall doesn't do used or seconds. You might eventually find one on forums such as this one or shudder ebay. Good luck.

Can anyone tell me the Rockwell hardness and blade material of that Randall Model 2?

RL, that's a beautiful setup. And I don't think it's illegal to carry that tiny blade concealed.
I think it's only illegal to carry blades that are longer than 4.5" concealed.

And even then, not many Toronto cops will bust you for carrying a knife.

Another knife question: Does Chris Reeve make daggers?
His prices are higher, I know...

Schtik, my blade is 5.5" :)

Yes, Reeve makes a dagger...it's called the Kathathu..good luck finding one though! You might want to try Neil Ostroff of True North Knives in Montreal...I can send you pics if you need them...

I'd love to get a Canadian-made blade.
But what concerns me is the heat treatments.

I've also raised my budget. I wanted to get a Glock 21... But I think spending a little more on a dagger would be smarter.

Why is the Chris Reeve dagger rare? I'd love to see it.

I meant that you should contact Neil because he is a local Reeve dealer...

Anyway, they are rare because it was made (in several sizes) in a limited edition and quickly sold out.

Here's the large one:

And the small

That dagger is absolutely beautiful.

I'm completely speechless.
The Kathathu is probably way above my price range... Sad.

Ok, I'll end your suffering...AZK (www.arizonacustomknives.com) has the small 4.25" blade) serial #1 for US$295....better snap that up before I do:

The blade length wouldn't be sufficient.

Check out the bottom dagger. She's a beauty, isn't she.

Yup, and it's on Bladeart's site right now:

Too bad it's not for sale...anyway, the middle Strider in your pic went for US$5,000 so the Simonich probably wouldn't be "cheap" if it were ever put up for sale.
