Found a buck 121 with no date code. It's just "Buck 121 U.S.A." USA is in small capitals and the stamp is not upside down but in the more common orientation. I don't recall when purchased, just curios. I used the search function but didn't find what was looked for. It does not have a scaler or sheath. Thanks ya'll!

Here are two with the tang stamp (I think) you are referring to; bottom photo is 1973 to about 1980, thinner blade stock and four spacers. The top knife has a thicker blade and three spacers, it would be from around 1980 to 1985. Both are the Buck Fisherman. Later the knife was continued with the thickness beefed up a bit more and the name changed to the Buck Guide.

You are welcome, glad I could help you out. By the way, I wrote “angler”, the official nomenclature for the early and mid Buck 121 is “Fisherman” - I went back and edited my error. The later models got thick enough to be rebranded “Guide”.

Was there much blade length difference between the 121 and the 105? Blade thickness?

Edited. Found my answers, the 121 is more of a flexible filet knife, thinner and longer. The 105 is about 5 inches and thicker, stouter for tougher jobs.
