Not sure if this is the right forum section but I'm looking for advice and recommendations on a nice kind of box for my dresser that stores all my blades. I've run out of space in a leather type mans watch box I have so I'm looking to see what others use. I don't need anything fancy, and prefer a solid lid as opposed to something with glass. Any ideas on something like this? I guess I'm almost looking for a humidor for knives, or a manly type jewelry box for them. Ideas?

SOunds like you answered your own question.

My box is constantly changing, but my favorite is a cigar box, its plenty big enough and they are cool (my opinion). I find them at the local smoke shop, they sell them there for 3 or 5 dollars (cardboard or wood box). I find that I can always find a good size whenever I go to get one, as I use them for other things too.

I also have a leather valet that I put my wallet, watch, and few other odds and ends in whenever I empty my pockets in the evening, I usually keep my 3 most used knives there.

good luck with your search

I picked up two four drawer chest from Sears, the kind you sit on top of a rollaway. They were $34.95 each. Ask the Sears clerk to check the back room for discontinued models. The current 2012 model had a new sticker and was $80.

Gerstner style chests are nice.

I have a Real nice Gerstner Pro 3 it was a huge investment but its looks and is made like a fine piece of furniture. I use it for My knives and gun tools and cleaning supply. When I bought it I had extra cash to blow on a 4k dollar tool box but its like a fine knife they hold value. I think they make smaller boxes that are very reasonable prices for a handmade Cherry wood storage box. They even made a special edition chest for Benchmade one year. You can pick up used Machinist tool chests on E-bay/Craig list. A used chest that shows wear and use looks great and they have great stories in their age. You can also find nice ones at garage sales and flea markets.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I like the ideas for storage, but I think I meant I'm looking for a "nice" type box to sit on top of my dresser in a bedroom, so not so much the hardware type storage boxes. I'll check out the valet and whatever the Gerstner is. Anything else?

I use this, my gf made it for me for my bday, maybe you could craft your own?

My wife peruses antique stores and she found some interesting old wood cigar boxes. I was afraid to take one away from her for knife storage but I think something like that could work for folding knives. Also in our visits to antique and craft stores I've seen various wooden boxes similar to the one in post #11, just need to find one that matches the size you need.

Wow you guys keep your things straight... Mine just get tossed on my nightstand next to all my other pocket fillers =D But then again since the moving company "lost" my collection of knives and some other stuff I really don't have much to store =(
