Im searching for a manual or auto that can be deassited that deploys and returns quickly with some type of one sided lock. any suggestions? thanks

I'm an idiot. Missed the "button" type. D'oh. I'll agree with the Hogue EX-01,3 and 4. Very nice knives.

Agreed on the Hogue EX01. Just be aware that the gmascus versions are fairly blade heavy. The aluminum handled knives balance better imo.

Protech TR3. They have both auto and manual models.

I don't own a Hogue but do own a Gerber Propel, also made in USA, which I've de-assisted to improve use of the knife, and it is my "go-to" folder for work around the homestead. Here is a video comparing it to the Benchmade Presidio 520 and Cold Steel Recon 1:

The Propel isn't all that cheap and Gerber hasn't released non-serrated or non-tanto or non-assisted versions yet, but I very much hope that they do as it should help lower the price. Gerber has a few other button-lock models, some Made in China so cheaper than the Propel. The de-assisted Propel is very user-friendly and ambidextrous, but I wouldn't expect fit-and-finish to be as high as the Hogue. My $0.02

Have you looked at Brian Tighe's knives? I have a Tighe Coon that is an all Ti flipper with a button lock and BG 42 blade steel. I forgot to add that it runs on his own bearing system similar to IKBS.

thanks so much and keep the recommendations coming. Im going to study up on all the knives mentioned. I also think a back lock could work for me if the "release cutout" is high enough toward the blade. I appreciate the info!

How about William Henry? I've been looking at there entry level offerings, anyone have experience with these?

^ how bout a thousand bucks, are there cheaper ones? On another note there is an interesting utube video of a guy distroying a ex03. search "hard use testing: hogue ex 03"

WH knives are very gentlemen like. I have an E6 with carbon inlays and it is an extremely well made knife but its sooo light it feels almost non existant in your hand. The E6 is also only 6.25" and 1.1oz. I would recommend the E10 since it is larger its what I should have got instead of the E6
