Looking for a few good features

Hi,
please tell me that there is a knife that meets the following criteria:
- full tang design for durability
- rubber/other synth grips for a good grip even when wet
- scandi grind for easy sharpening and good cutting
- sheath that locks the knife to make it a bit harder to lose

All that and a good steel, too? Am I asking too much? A mora-type scandi would be an optimal choise, but I've broken a few of them in the past and it really tends to annoy. The scandi grind seems to be a hard-to-find feature.

Are you looking for production or custom?

As I recall, Nick Wheeler made an OSF bushcraft knife that fit most of your criteria. There's a thread on it somewhere in the custom knife forum.

Don't know about the grind or the rubberized handle but a Camp Tramp by Swamp Rat is about as good for the money as you can find. I can't believe you'd be breaking that one.

The D.C. knife in the middle is considered a Scandi Grind. Some also call it a 'modified V' grind and it can also be done with a modified V with fullers (blood grooves)

Thanks for the replys. A quick look at the swamp rat website looks promising, especially the warranty. They are a bit on the expensive side, though. The benchmade seems ok for the $$. Then again, I'm willing to spend a bit for good equipment.

I can't tell from the pictures on the Rat website, which of their blades have the scandi (or modified vee) grind?

The rubber grip isn't a must-have, as long as whatever it is made of is grippy.

A Mora 2000. Sheath doesn't lock but it is very difficult to pop it out. A Deerhunter in D2 is another approach, smaller but has the locking sheath. If you want to pound on it pretty hard get a Howling Rat instead.

None of them, they use full flat and secondary edge bevel.

Where is the difference between modified V, scandi, and saber grind. According to Joe Talmadge FAQ I would call the above saber grind?

I'd second the Mora 2000. The sheath is extremely secure; you won't lose the knife unless you take it out and drop it yourself. It's a very efficient cutter, has a very comfortable and grippy handle, and carries easily. It is, however, not a full sized tang (it's almost full length but is not full width inside the handle), though I've batonned mine quite a bit and have never had a problem. I used to have a pic of a mora2000 tang but I can't find it, and KJ Eriksson has eliminated the pic from their catalog. Sorry about that...
