I'm looking for a good fixed blade for EDC use but will be dragged through hell.

-the blade length can't be longer that 3 inches
-not serrated
-less than $70

Thoughts?

I edc'd and esee izula for awhile. It a pretty tough little knife. Handle aren't the most comfortable tho

I would recommend the Becker BK11, ESEE Izula and Izula II also the ESEE 3 for EDC, and out of those three I like the Izula II the best.

With your budget you could get an Izula with the kit and have $8 to spare.

The Boker/Tom Krein Pocket Bowie makes a great little EDC. 2 1/2" 440C blade, G-10 scales. Outstanding quality for a knife that sells for $27 bucks.

The ESEE 3 is about $20 more than he wants to spend.

Becker BK 11 or BK 14.
ESSE Izula or Izula 2

All 4 are great knives. The Beckers are bigger and cost less.

On the cheap end the Buck Paklite is a nice knife for under $20.

The Boker is sweet as well as the CS Pendleton mini hunter. I have one and gave one to my son and he loves it. Very high quality knife for 30 bucks and VG1 steel with a really nice combo sheath. It is about the first knife I ever liked even worn as a neck knife, and I hate neck knives so go figure. The handle is nice too very grippy and it gives you something to hold on to. keepem sharp

Hey, just wondering.. Why would you want to carry a fixed blade if it has to be that small? Surely you can get a very strong folding knife with that blade length that can do most of the things it could do. Not trying to ruffle any feathers I'm just a little perplexed as to that choice.

Boker has a number of decent small fixed blades for EDC. Might I suggest an economical alternative should the rest fall short:

Meyerco Dirk Pinkerton Wharncliffe, about 25 bucks shipped.

I've busted 2 good folders already. A kershaw leek and a second hand spyderco resilience. I'm hard on stuff.

I've tried BRKs, a BHK, and a couple of Izulas. The Izulas are my choice for EDC. The others are really nice and I carry them some for specific uses, but they're out of your listed price range. I've found that the Izzy 2 can do most anything that I need done on a daily basis and I don't have to worry about opening/closing it, keeping the pivot & lock area clean, or screws loosening up. The micarta handles on the 2 are very comfortable even for somewhat harder use. I use mine in the woods around my house for trimming vines and shrubs as well as in the warehouse for cutting cardboard, strapping material, and zip ties. It's help up well so far.

The Izula is a great little knife.. Super light, you can customize it with your own paracord handle, and it takes a thrashing pretty well.. Its amazing how many of these "best fixed EDC" threads I've come across and everytime the Izula is one of the top contenders.. I can't weigh in on the Becker since I don't own one, but it looks like a good choice too.. For what it's worth though, if I lost my Izula, I'd buy another in a heartbeat..

And even better is the SOG Arc lock, if you go over 1000 pounds of pressure you can always fall back on the lifetime warranty.

The ESEE 3 is about $20 more than he wants to spend.
yes you are correct and it is also slightly over 3 inches aswell but it makes for a great edc fixed blade, and it should be something for the op to consider. I still think the Izula II would be the best choice though.

I don't have a Izula II but the longer handle has to help. The longer and more hand filling handle on the Buck Paklite is a big plus for me. The handle on the Izula and the BK 11 are both too shot in my opinion. The extra 1 1/2" of paracord stuck out the back fixes that problem some what.

If you don't mind the sheath that the Paklite comes with, get one and give it a try. Less than $20 shipped you can't go wrong.

Someone on here made a kydex sheath for the Paklite. I might "need" one. :)
