Most of us will be getting a pay cheque tomorrow, and for me when I have a new hobby money burns a hole in my pocket. What I'm getting at is that I plan on buying a blade this weekend. I love the Rick Hinderer XM-24 but it's way out of my price range at the moment. The size and quality would be perfect for me. I also like the ZT 350, but it seems a bit small (mostly the handle size). The 300 is a bit chunky (and pricey) for me right now. Is there a flipper out there for me?

I've been considering a few knives such as the Al Mar Sere 2000, Benchmade 581, Spyderco Military, Benchmade Hardtail etc. but I think I've narrowed down my requirements. Here goes,

1. Must have a top flipper (index finger flipper like on the ZT 300 models) and thumb stud

2. Price range between $120-$200.

3. Handle length must be 4.75"-5.50", blade length at least 3.50"

This will be my fourth blade purchase in 5 days... :S

LOL joining the addiction i see

I got the ZT350ST, love it. I find it perfect since it does ride well in my pocket, I think it tends to ride better than my SMF
that being said I do EDC XM-18 3.5" though, so maybe I just prefer the 3.5" range folders when it comes to EDC.

** around 4" BM 710 or AFCK ?

Have you looked at the ZT0200? It would fit those requirements you set forth, and do an awesome job of it. The Al Mar SERE is a very nice knife that is built well and has great fit/finish. If you can go up a few more dollars, you may want to get on a preorder list for the new ti Military with the fluted handles. It is a great looking knife with a proven design. The Spyderco Gayle Bradley gets a lot of rave reviews also. The Benchmade 805 and 806 are available in a limited run at Knifeworks and both are under $200. These also have M390 blade steel which is a very good steel, at least in my Kershaw Volt it is!

There are plenty of knives that will fit your requirements. Good luck, and let us know what you end up with!:)

Btw, the Kershaw Volt is one of my top favorite knives as it is perfect in everything! The only problem is only ~275 were produced, and those were snatched up in a hurry. The only one I've seen for sale had a price tag over $400. Eventually it will sale for that if it hasn't already. If I had an extra $400, I would buy it and put it up so that I could use mine a little bit more than I do!

Well have you checked out the ZT0200? It's a large non-AO flipper, and priced very well.

Zt 0551
this is 200 dollars of excellent knife, and you could probably find one on the exchange for about that price. other than that, the ZT 0200 or 0350 would be excellent.

ZT 0551. Well built, looks good, and is well within your price range. Actually, any ZT will probably suit you. Overall, they're a great family of knives.

Adding a bit on the low cost, but you'll be impressed by the quality vs price: Enlan EL01 .. flipper it is (although needs some breaking in) .. their heat treat is better than Sanrenmu (I have some Sanrenmu, Enlan EL01, Enlan EL02). ..

Go google Enlan EL01 Hinderer .. you'll find the short review on other forums.
