Hey guys,
I am looking to buy a folding knife that will not fold my bank account. There are alot of knives out there, what to choose. I don't want to spend any more than $150 bucks, prefrebly less than that. Any suggetsions. I was looking at the cold steel recon 1 and the emerson cqc7. There was also a knife at aeromedics.com worth looking at. Help me out as this knife will probably be a folder that I hopefully won't have to replace anytime soon. Thanks in advance fellows.

I fear you have to narrow it down a bit further than that. Any size, handle material, steel, or shape preferences?

Byrds are great knives for $20.
The Chad designs from Boker are great knives for $30
Endura/Delica/Salt are great knives for $50
Griptilians for $60
Spec/Speed bump, Manix, BM710 would be great knives for around $120
CF Caly III $140
CF Mili, Buck Mayo TNT for around $160ish

Just a few that pop into my mind. Prices are give or take a few bucks.

Size , i guess no larger than 8 inches, blade tanto point, material not important. Neither are the handles. I am a Law enforcment officer and sometimes we tend to torture blades. Hope thats f little more help. Would rather have a knife useful in close quarter combat, but also for utility purposes.

For a tanto point, I'd say look at Benchmades for the full size Griptilian model 553 (8" OAL) or the Presidio tanto model 523 (8.25" OAL). Both have 154CM steel and the Axis lock, easy to open and close with either hand. The Presidio is more expensive, but has machined aluminum handles and more heft to it than the FRN handles on the Grip. Still well within you $150 budget though.

Take a look at the Sog Trident, very cool assisted opener with several different style options, it seems similar to what you listed.

Bradley Cutlery, Benchmade, higher-end Kershaw and Spyderco all fit your needs - but which do you really want? The higher-end Buck Mayo's and original Camillus EDC are all good choices as well.
Do a bit of research and searching ;).

Benchmade (BM), Kershaw, Spyderco, Buck, Victorinox
In general you pretty much can't go wrong with the above
in terms of quality and service.

Specifically check out the BM 710 4" blade D2 Axis Lock. The slight recurve rocks.... cuts really well... very aggressive. Grippy G-10 handles
that are comfortable for long term cutting.
Best 4" folding knife money can buy IMHO and many others.
And only around 4 ounces! This is what you should be looking at!
This would be a great duty folder... tough as nails!

Depends on what you're looking for ... the Byrd Cara Cara, Spyderco Delica, Buck 110, BM 710 or Grip easily fill the bill.

Rockin' with any of these should easily satisfy you're needs.

The Emerson seems to be well regaded by people who want tool knives to actually hard-use everyday. I beleive Mini CQC8 or PSARK can be had for around $120 ea. No experiene whatsoever with them personaly.

The Aeromedix Ritter grip, also comes with high recommendations from people whose opinion I respect. NO personal experience with them either .

He said he wants a tanto, guys.

Cold Steel Voyagers:

These are very tough, well made knives for the price, and not a pain to replace. They are made in the same factory that makes some of Spyderco's greatest blades. They also come with great edges that Cold Steel always deliver. These would make a rock solid choice.

Cold Steel Gunsite:

Basically the same thing with cooler grinds on the blade.

Benchmade Tanto Griptillain:

Another great choice. The smooth, quick Axis lock (which is where Cold Steel got the idea for their Ultra Lock on the Recon 1) would be good to have in a pinch.

Benchmade Presido Tanto:

Higher end than the Grip.

I love the lines on this one. Another excellent choice.

HK Tanto:

Another well made, higher end tanto by BM.

I'd recommend the Griptilian in CPM S30V on Doug Ritter's aeromedix.com site. It's a good knife, the lock is really smooth and strong.
