Hey, so I really want to try out a folder with about a 4" blade, but really in the range of over 4 inches and under 5. I have got a bunch 4" folders, and I am looking for something a bit bigger.

I have the Spartan, but it is not practical for daily use. I have been considering the BM Onslaught, but the thinness of the blade has been somewhat of a turn off..

So basically, I am looking for

-A folder
-Less than $200
-From a reputable company
-blade length between 4-5 inches
-no liner locks

Any suggestions?

Gerber combat folder. wait - liner lock.
Sog Pentagon II or Spec Elite II.
A few cold steels.

ZT tolerance the the 200 or 300 series. Sogs like the ones mentioned above, maybe the emersons and CRKTs could provide a good start.

Some versions of the Military have framelocks. There's always the Cold Steel knives, some of them are really large.

I don't think any ZT or CRKT is above four inches.. is the spyderco police above 4 inches?

CS gunsite might be a good choice, I am a bit wary of SOG though.

Police SS is just a little over 4" and the G-10 Police 3 is a little longer than it. The SS ones can be found under $100 all the time and are a great classic - perfect balance.

Can play around with it while watching "Training Day"

Newer Cold Steel Voyager large, or Hold Out II.
Check out powernoodle's review on Hold Out II, I assume you have issue with how Spartan is carried. The Voyager should carry better, and Hold Out even more.

Thanks Chris, I actually have a few versions of the new voyagers. Sorry I wasnt clear enough in my OP but I was looking for something over 4 inches

I have a 5" Gunsite I'm looking to trade off for something different if you want to contact me.

Benchmade 710. Two good steels to choose from. You definitely won't be disappointed with the M390 blade.
