im http://www.diamondbackironworks.com/catalog/item/2754775/4753617.htm looking for a forge that will fill all my needs forever ( billets and all),that is also under $500. what do you think of that one. i think mr.Ellis has a forge for around $600 plus shipping --its just aalittle to much for me right now, although i wouls most likely pick his. thanks marekz or this one but the doors are different and i wonder if it would get hot enough for all i need it to do? http://www.centaurforge.com/NC-Whis...Forge-with-a-Back-Door/productinfo/NCFORGEBD/

i think if you built one of indian georges forges you could do it much cheaper and have a bunch of money left over.

i was thinking of an atmosperic forge as then i dont need an electrical outlet-marekz- and i rather buy one. thankz again-mrekz

I will vouch for Diamondback and Dennis,as I have one and recently put a pic of a blade made from a billet of Damascus,I forged easily in the forge.I have made a few gas forges and some worked better than others, but I just decided to bite the bullet and buy one and the price was right.I got the two burner knifemaker model-----Regards Butch

$500 is enough money to buy enough supplies to make 3 forges. I'm ordering supplies for my new welding forge and its only $148 including a new regulator and pressure gauge.

I really suggest that you look into building a forge, its much simpler than you would imagine. Also you will never find a forge that fits all of your projects, having different forges for different sized projects is necessary if you don't like wasting propane; there is no point in firing up a 10" welding forge just to work 4 inches of a knife.

Are you plan'g on welding in the venturi forge??? If so you waste propane, they need 8 to 10 pounds pressure to get up to welding temp. The ones that I build, I can weld at 3 to 5 PSI. I am building a smaller forge ( It will be called a Laptop Forge HEHEHEHEHE!!!) out of a 5" pipe. This sucker will be a rocket-ship.:D:D

For that money you can build several, but if you want to save you some time and not worry about the money to much then check out Darren Ellis. He makes a good forge and if you do decide to build one you can get everything you need to build it from him too. His site is elliscustomknifeworks.com He is a great guy to deal with too. Good luck

there isnt really too much info on them on his site.like what he uses for the interior or temps--has anyone used one of uncle als that can vouch forit--marekz

I am building a forge now. Figure I have about $200 total in it. You can get most of it from Ellis Custom Knifeworks. I should have mine up and running sometime this week.
Lots of the guys will give you advice. I would, but I am a newbie just starting myself.

Just saw a 2 burner propane forge on ebay for like $230 search knife making forge? May not be what you are looking for but its free to look!

check out the forges from H M Ironworks in Lancaster Ohio, he sells on ebay just search propane forge. I bought one his dual burners a couple of months ago it heats to forge temp. fast, built like a tank, and is light and portable. If I remember right it was about $315 or $325 shipped to your door
