Looking for a Gerber Mk1

When I was a boy I was wearing my mom's gerber mark 1 (small boot knife) that they for some reason stopped making in the 90's. I lost is in a corn field. That corn will grab your sit man. It was the one w/ the aluminum handle and double guard, unlike that sorry small boot knife they have today.

anyway, I still have the leather sheath to this day and I always meant to get a new one. Does anyone know where I might could get a half decent replica or something. Something that fits the sheath and looks the same and can actually take an edge.

I hear your pain. I carried a MK I through High School (my times were different, then!) and stupidly sold it. I guess I would keep an eye on eBay for an original, or check out the Cold Steel Counter Tac I w/5" blade--it looks about the same, but with Kraton handle rather than aluminum.

They turn up on Ebay fairly often. Why buy a replica when you can get the real thing on ebay. Do a search and then save the search. Sign up to receive "Saved search" notices from ebay via email every time one is posted for sale or auction. Or just do an ebay search a couple of times a week on a regular basis.

There are several on there right now. One of them with "Buy it now".

Is that counter tac a double bevel...I mean is it ground on both sides or is one side flat...like is the cross section of the blade 3 or 4 sided?

Hmm--forgot about that--they are three-sided :thumbdn:

Upon doing some Googling, there is surprisingly no much out there in the MKI pattern.

How about making your own? I have seen some blades in that pattern available.

I just pulled my MK1 out of the bottom of my safe. I bought it when I was in HS. I am in need of a boot knife but can't decide what I want. I like the MK 1 but don't like the sheath. I would be interested in selling it I have no idea what it would bring. Might ebay it.

I have put in an inqury about custom kydex sheaths to a couple of people, not sure how much Im willing to pay for that though.
