Looking for a good bowie knife

I've had my eye on the blackjack 129 or 12-9. But it appears to be gone. So I've looked at a model 7 from same maker ( same story). I want to stay below 300. Anybody know a reputable dealer or any individual? What happened to bark river and blackjack? Thanks for your help and patience.
 
You may want to look at a Cold Steel recon scout in 3v or the trail master if you want a longer blade. The handles aren't great but the blades are quite good. Actually any steel version taiwan, japan or USA is very good just steer clear of the china blades.

I would keep an eye on the for sale part of bladeforums. You are bound to find something you like. Just check feedback scores before dealing.
 
Contact Lucas, screen name Steevee, and have him make one for you. It'll be over your budget but not by a lot. I have his sidekick and a 9 1/2" Bowie, a 5 1/2" Bowie in the works. He includes a first class sheath, too.

I like the handles. They're comfortable and provide decent grip.
 
Jeff Schafer makes an incredible coffin handled Bowie. it’s a little more than you wanted to spend, but it’s a custom knife..
 
Look at the Cold Steel drop forged survivalist? Gets very good reviews, although you'll want to get a better sheath (glass-filled nylon dulls the edge. Also you can replace the inserts with some material you find more attractive.

There is a maker in the custom makers fixed blade section that makes large chopping knives. When I get the cash one day I am going to try one. I do
Like the cold steal trailmaster I have. But I would go custom from makers on this board.
