To be honest i have quite a few bush knives, esee 3, bhk bushcrafter, esee izula, mora, martiini, and an esee 5. But i was looking for a mora sized blade 3-4" with really good ergos, but i woulod like a little more high end blade. Also i would kinda like to make it into some sort of neck rig( like how some people do with moras) so not too heavy.

Id like to take it out pretty much everywhere, hikes, backpacking, and bushcraft; but i would team it up with something like an axe and saw.

i was looking at some Bark river's like the gunny and fox river, and the fiddleback forge bush finger(just a bit out of price range).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Price range $150-$250

If wanted a neck knife at that price point I'd think about a custom. You might want to talk to Big Chris (a maker here on BF) and see what he has. He works with a lot of different steels and makes kydex sheathes.

you could check the Enzo trapper. might be a little heavy around the neck, but the steel is great.

Check out more of the BHK knives like the Brumby or the Bushbaby. If you wanted something a little smaller get the Frontier Valley Patch. A 3-4 inch well made non plastic handle full tang knife is going to be pretty heavy to neck carry. Something in the 2 1/2 inch blade range would be better suited.

Brumby 6.2 oz
Bushbaby 4.2 oz
Frontier Valley Patch 2.6 oz
Gunny 5.6 oz
Fox River 5.8 oz
Mora 2.8 oz

All these are weights of knife only, no sheath. Depending on the sheath it could add another 2-4 oz.

Try hanging your BHK bushcrafter on your neck and see how that feels. HEAVY! I think your best bet is to go with a 2 1/2 inch blade like the BHK Frontier Valley Patch. Light weight, well made and feels great in the hand. It also comes with the option of a neck sheath. I neck carry the Frontier First Patch and find that it is well suited for most of the stuff I need to do with it. Light weight as well. You could always get a fold over kydex sheath for it as well which I plan to do for neck carry to save even more weight. You can get the knives in either scandi, flat, or hollow grind.

A good review of the Frontier Valley Patch and some bushcrafting.

I would take a look at Dan Koster's Woodlore or Woodlore PSK. I am strongly considering on of these, myself, for a neck knife. The only difference between the two is handled vs. skeletonized. Dan is a custom maker with a sub-forum here on BFC.
