No idea what thread topic this should be under.

Anyways, I'm looking to buy a good crowbar. Pretty big too. Local Home Depot had a bunch, but since I'm a knife guy I wanted a crowbar made out super steels but that's not gonna happen so what's a good brand for crowbars?

Only for prying stuff open of course. Keep it cheap, $30 or less.

Not too fond of a yellow crowbar either.

I have used a Fat Max Crow bars for many demos and general destruction for about 6 years now. I also use a cheap-o from walmart. I like to have a heavy one and a light one.

You don't want something brittle like a knife "super steel". Cutting something and prying something open or apart are drastically different uses.

Most good crowbars are made from simple carbon steel (1060 or similar) and are not hardened anywhere near what a knife blade would be. Find one that fits your hand and has a claw shape and size the meets your needs. As mentioned above, you want a large heavy one and a lighter handier model for lighter tasks.

For a heavy bar, I'd look into the Roughneck 36" Gorilla Bar. That thing is a beast. It makes a fantastic demo tool due to it's weight. I think they're right around $30, too.

Little nail puller prybars are pretty much all the same, just a hunk of cheap carbon steel in the shape of a crowbar. Hard to go wrong with them.

What they said, but throw in a can of stripper and a can of Camo brown. You could spray over the orange/yellow, but it would always be there and show after the first use. I avoided black and green since it becomes tactical and that makes it a weapon instead of a tool. Actually, a deep blue or haze grey may be the better answer. Yes, that's it, strip it, a coat of deep blue followed by a coat of grey hammered, followed by a light spray from about three feet off, of blue to knock down the shine of the grey. Also like the rubbed bronze finish from Krylon (At least on my bathroom fixtures) Maybe some form of HGTV milticam....

Stanley Fubar. Its both good and big.

I've beaten up on a few stanley wreaking bars, and couldn't hurt them (then again, thats not saying much) those FUBARS are a well thought out tool though! pretty fun ripping out studs using the wrench end.
