well the title says it all. i'm looking for a good custom bushcraft knife maker as my mora is now basically a pointy stick after years of use. I've been looking at ml knives as i really like a nice thin, light knife with a 4 inch blade. I also like a convex edge on my knives and don't really care for a 90 degree spine. I was going to pick ml knives but don't really like 1095...just don't I don't know a lot about heat treat and the heat treat they do at ml knives so feel free to give some info (would really appreciate it)! Hope that this info can help choose the prefect knife maker for me.

Thanks

Big Chris does thin stuff in your size range and works with a variety of modern steels. He often posts in the knifemaker's fixed-blade for-sale section.

That's strange.

In my eyes, very few have the same level of talent and credibility in that arena as Rick does. If I had any interest in the modern bushcraft school of thinking, he'd be the maker at the top of my list.

And I don't even LIKE the guy! :D

lol XD I researched on ml's heat treat and i must say he gets a lot of praise for it! Plus you mind recommending me a knife in his workshop? its just that the pictures in the website don't poke on the knife side of my brain lol

I will be honest though the knives in jk knives look really nice! I think I might like the element o1 hunter because it has that nice 3 inch blade which is a good size for ME for general bushcraft and hunting. Tempted to order one. or maybe the compact tool...

yeah I already checked them out maybe last year (I believe I was looking at the bushfinger) but the thing is, I like my knives to be 3.5 inches blade wise and when looking at the 3 inch section I just couldn't bring my self to get one. XD

John will modify any knife to suit your preference - plenty of examples of his work with extended blade lengths or made smaller. Just ask.
