Something other than my Swiss army knife and assorted folders anyways I think I've seen the light and have quit buying folders. I like stag or rubber grips or even checkered grips. I'm looking for a 4-5 inch spearpoint (dagger) blade. I have medium sized hands so a decent sized grip would be good. Who makes a good knife such as the one I described?

Check out SOG, they make some really kick ass spear points. Thier Dessert Dagger is one of my all time favorites. Thier knives are really well balanced and just plain sexy.

The SOG Desert Dagger is a great knife, except that its' blade is 6.25 inches long, NOT the 4-5 inches that PsychoSword is looking for. However, the SOG Pentagon has a 5 inch "dagger" blade, and is a very good knife.

Cool! I like the pommel that can double as a hammer.

I'm actually willing to go as long as 6.5". 7 or 8 would probably be a bit much, but I'm open to all suggestions!

I would go with a dozier (www.dozierknives.com) They are the best value out there (even after the price increase) and you won't find a better knife for everyday use, you'll have one of his forever (unless somebody lifts it, that is. I have the professional guides knife (not a spearpoint, but he has a range of those) and it has one of the best grinds I've seen, it will cut anything without breaking a sweat

Not as large as you mention, but for EDC I really LOVE my B.A.D.

Really? ;)
OK – don’t use double edged dagger for work nor for play! They are pretty specialized killing tools, say, to deprive of live sleeping enemy’s sentry possibly humane way, do not causing him too much suffering. You certainly wouldn’t be happy with double edged blade working nor playing.

There are a lot of knives designed for work and matching such needs way better:
SPYDERCO Bill Moran Featherweight, Fred Perrin Bowie, FB Temperance;
GERBER Yari
BENCHMADE Nimravus
FALLKNIVEN F1 and S1
SOG X-42 Field Knife and Field Pup
KA-BAR Impact series knives
This is just very, very shortened list...
