I have been browsing the internet and have found three company's that make barlows IXL Wostenholm, case, and queen. In your opinion, which company has better product control and delivers a knife with a good edge and keen looks out of the box?

I, for one, have never bought a Case knife that wouldn't shave arm hair right out of the box.
Can't say the same for Queen (one was literally butter knife dull, but took a great edge), and never owned an IXL.

Case and Queen both have good quality control, but if you want a good edge out of the box, you are probably better off going with Case. BTW, I have a Case Granddaddy barlow and it is a very nice knife.

And ditto on the IXL - I've never owned one.

Your thread title is "Looking for a good large barlow". Does that mean you are looking for a 5" single blade Barlow or are you looking for a 3 3/8" - 3 1/2" Barlow?

PM sent.

EDIT: Couldn't send PM as you don't have that option selected.

Böker used to do a Gran under the Russell badge, still should be able to find them. Their Russell Barlow in standard size, 2 blades is very well made indeed, both carbon.

Rough Rider do a Gran too.Stainless.

As others have said, CASE is nearly always super sharp, Queen less so. I*XL are more likely to be older knives surely?

Queen has a large Dan Burke Barlow in Amber Sawcut bone with D2
My Dan Burke can sharp and the reports here is that they come sharp

Schatt & Morgan make large Barlows in ATS34

The quality is very high on both
