Hi guys, I figure some of you guys would be tea drinkers. I'm looking for a spiced black tea. the Himilayan type. Right now I'm drinking Tazo, It's o.k. but a little spicy. I've tried oregon chai tea. It's better, smoother.
Anyone got any reccomendations?

Why not make your own?

I'm not a huge chai drinker, but I do like the chai at the coffee house where my wife gets her morning coffee. I'll ask them what they use the next time I go in there.

You have any ( big or small ) asian markets within an hour or two drive? UB turned me on to one in Reno. If you gotta go into the city once a month, take/make a half-hour or hour to check some of the listings.

At least you have an idea what you want.

I live near a huge Indian population. If you want chai I can get you chai.
ALthough are you looking for the presweet liquid chai in a box kind, or the just tea with spices kind?

right now I'm drinking the presweetened kind in a box. I'd like to try others. Good idea to try the local ethnic markets. I think there's one or two nearby.
I'll google it and see what pops up too.

Neko, thanks for the offer. Let me see what I can get local first tho.

Years ago I went onto the Internet and found numerous different Chai recipes. This is current state of five years experimentation and refinement.

RC's masala chai tea recipe

The quest for a red square below my post count continues... so if you enjoyed this recipe, please give me some bad reputation points... and that goes for the rest of 'ya dull bent butter knife carrying b!tc#3$ too  :D :D

Well, I use a tea masala that I buy in Kathmandu whenever I get over there--it's fantastic! ...and not just with black tea..I also enjoy it with a good Darjheeling... I beleieve the masala I'm using is very similar to the recipe above.

Don't forget that the secret to good chia is boiling the milk (having bici milk doesn't hurt either, I guess)! And nothing beats that whole cardomon pod that pops out of the cup at you :)

I enjoy ordering from tentea.com They have excellent varieties and good prices. They have delivered within a few days of my order numerous times.

I went to the local co-op today. They had four different brands that had chai tea in their line up! Plus they had all the different spices ...in bulk! I didn't even have to hunt up the local asian markets. I think I'll go with the bulk spices and make up the recipe that b.t.c posted.
Also Josh posted a great link to chai tea info!
Thanks guys.
