Lookinng for a heavy single edged knife with full flat grind, thick spine, and a broad spearpoint or dirk-like symmetrical patternform. Something that has some serious good heft, heavy like a Trail master etc. Something w/ a blade about 9" long.

A barong would fit this description but I can't find any w/ ca 9" blades.

Preferably a production.

Also, what is that foreign website that that sells all types of barongs and other southeast asian heavy knives w/ the carved horn handles... Something that starts w/ a V if I recall correctly.

Thx.

Becker BK9 sounds more or less like what you are describing - the price is even right.

I've a Keith Coleman, very old mid 80's camp knife that is exactly as you describe. Just a great fixed blade. Thick point too but extremely sharp and well used. Very comfortable grip etc.etc. keepem sharp

Laconio makes a lovely custom that fits that description if I am not mistaken. There are all kinds of makers on here who could satisfy that desire.

Thanks for the suggestioon. The only thing is that the becker doesn't have full flat grind, but it couldn't really since it is only made from 3/16 stock. That is a possiblity though...

I can't find that lancino knives.

That company I was trying to think of is Valiant CO. It just came to me.

I just ground down my nathez bowie. There was nothing else big and heavy enough, plus the handle and guard is fantastic. Almost thought about getting a Trail master and gring off 1/2" to attain the desired pattern form, but the total weight would be a lot less than my reground natchez. Wanted something that had some heft to cut or block.

It was kind of a shame to molest the nathez, which is probably the perfect fighting bowie design and a great execution, even in SK5 but felt bad about the knife just being a safe queen b/c it is too big for every day carry/CC. Plus, for another $20 over the price of a SK5 TM, I could just get anotehr natchez, grind one and leave one if I want.

Works great for pikal grip in a big hurry, or in forward grip w/ edge in or out if I have more time to draw it.

It is like 9 1/2" now w/ a Frankish or Scandinavian Seax shape blade. Been carrying it (concealed) vertical on my hip (oppisite my auto) every day for a couple weeks now. No more difficult than the Boar Hunter I had set up for pikal, only like 3/4" longer now. Laced some paracord through some segments of a carbon fiber arrow and carrow OWB, outside the belt w/ the hilt at or above the belt line. When I sit, the bottom of the sheath hits the chair and the hole thing just slides up a couple inches. No problem
