I have found a bunch of what seems to be cheap higokonami knives. I would like to find an original one that is quality. Thanks

Even real higonokami knives are pretty rustic creations. There are plenty of very nicely made higo knives from various boutique dealers on the internet. Google should get you at least to a starting point.

What is a higokonami knife?

let me google that for you haha

On a more serious note its a traditional Japanese friction folder, more of a peasant knife really. The one that comes to mind would be the higonokami made by the "best made company"....kinda over priced IMO. Also if you just surf the internet I'm sure you'll find others of good quality (I just can't think of any at the moment, dosn't mean they aren't there)

Oh and lastly it's spelled higonokami:thumbup:

Hope it helps!

Look on the big auction site.

It's a Japanese friction folder with a laminated steel blade. It comes in Aogami (#1 and #2), Shirogami (not sure which), and SK blade steels. Its default blade shape is a wharncliffe, but it also comes in spearpoint and straightback . It's also in various sizes and for handle materials you can choose from black painted stainless steel, brass, or nickel.

I have two: one with Cowry-X Damscus San-Mai by Hattori...handle is nickel-silver The other is with R2 Damascus San Mai by Itou..handle is Ironwood. Both are of outstanding quality, but not so easy to find. I don't have any photos, but search for those and should find easily enough.
