Looking for a kiridashi

Like the title suggests I'd like to try out a kiridashi as a necker and I'm looking for some recommendations.
Ideally I'd like to spend under $100 but if I've learned any thing about the knife addiction, you always find a way to justify spending more :p

Here are my requirements:

- kydex sheath with good blade retention; if it comes with a chain and paracord for neck carry, that's a plus
- preferably Japanese style (same with ito wrapping); cord wrapped handle is ok too
- must be very small and light (using it as a necker)
- I prefer a steel blade...not familiar with titanium as a blade material

Recommend away! Thanks! :)

Something sorta like this?

Check out the Cold Steel Mini Tac series. They have a kiridashi for $60 MSRP:

These are a little different than most, but I think they still qualify as a kiridashi.

Murray Carter. He seems to be one of the top kiridashi guys, he cord wraps, uses kydex, and uses Japanese steel on a regular basis.

If you really have something special in mind, this could become a custom project. Because of their small size and easy design, a full-custom kiridashi can be very reasonable in price.

It is even possible to make one yourself....

Those are looking good. Have you experimented with elongating the blade with a less drastic angle? Edge similar to this:

I'm subscribing because I'm looking for the exact same thing. I have the dashi bug. :D

You know me, I`ll make them anyway someone wants them!

Sadly, the place that I would have directed you to, doesn't look like they carry their kiridashi anymore. That said, Japanese swordsmith Rick Barrett does alot of different types of knives as well as his excellent Japanese katana. If you check out his website: http://www.barrettcustomknives.com/home, take a look around the knife section specifically and if you see something you like (what Rick calls the Kappa sounds right up your alley, not the first Kappa, the one further down on the knife page), send him and email and he'll talk with you about it I'm sure. I have a kiridashi from him that is basically exactly the same as the Kappa, but without any wrapping. It's just a piece of damascus steel as most kiridashi (to my knowledge) were traditionally done.

I've worn it as a necker before, but realized that I'm not such a huge fan of them, so I just trade it out as my EDC with my other Barrett knife.

Just a fair warning, Rick's swords/knives are some of the best in the US, and with that reputation/skill comes a price. It looks like, based on his website, what you're looking for would run a tad over $300. I hope any of this information helps and you find what you're looking for.

Check out Ivan Campos -- he specializes in Japanese-style blades. I have two of his knives, an American Standard Tanto in D3 (think of D3 as D2 on steroids) and an exquisitely sharp Scandi blade in 1070.

Right, and while I'm thinking, I found at least one Carter knockoff, so be sure you know what you're buying.

@Daniel Fairly Knives those look very nice. How can I get one like those pictured above? thanks very much!

I picked up a carbidized titanium kiridashi at the Indy 1500 by Schwartz Tactical for $65. Anodized and everything. See if you can find one online.
