Looking for a knife <$50 that is 3" closed, so that should be about a 2 1/2 blade.

This knife would be for a small pocket to fit next to a small flashlight that is 3" in length. So far I know of the SOG Flash I. I actually used to own this knife and it was the perfect size for this application but I did not like some superfluous features (open-assist, safety lock). I must say I loved the deep ride pocket clip on this knife though.

Looking for plain edge, lock open feature, and I value nominal rust resistance. Honestly I do sort of like modern tacticool knives (LOL 2 1/2" folding "tactical" knife) over more classic designs just for the style but nothing too silly or anything.

I also don't think a Spydeco would not work due to it's width from the opening method, the thumb hole sticks way out beyond the handle. I have become very accustomed to thumb studs.

Thanks.

Kershaw Skyline or Ka-Bar Dozier come to mind, although I think they are longer than 2.5 in blade and I think a bit over 3 in closed. They are the smallest knives I have besides Spyderco Ladybug and Dragonfly. A Victorinox would fit the bill and give you a few extra tools. I have the Fieldmaster and I love it.

How about a Kershaw Chive (3" closed, 1 7/8" blade)? 3" closed is pretty small. Even the Flash 1 is a bit longer than that (3 1/2" closed, 2 3/8" blade). The small Buck Vantage is nice and has a deep carry clip, but it's 3 1/2" closed (2 1/2" blade). Kershaw Cryo is another nice one (3 3/4" closed, 2 5/8" blade) that is an assisted flipper w/ 4-position deep carry clip.

Boker Plus Ebony comes with a 2 3/4" Blade.

it might be a tad small, but I like my OD 2. The little one I mean 'cause I have both.If you dig flippers.
