Just got back from a little trip. On that trip I had the chance to visit the Worlds of Fun theme park in Kansas City, MO. Well the rides were great. On top of that they treated me like the honest citizen I am. No metal detectors. No bag searches. No frisking. I carried my MT Vector because it is under 3" and figured it had a good chance of making it through a parks "security" measures. But if I go again I will think nothing of taking my Chinook.

On another note the security there did not seem mallninja-esqe. Most were armed only with pepper spray and flashlights but some had firearms and ASP batons. They acted professionally and seemed to know that their job was to keep things safe rather than hassle regular people who want to have a good time. I would recommend the park to anyone who likes to be treated like an ordinary citizen rather than a criminal when they go to a theme park with their knives.

What?? No disarming?? You must be kidding!

Wasn't the park immediately overrun by terrorists?

The Six Flags Magic mountain is the worst place to go if you carry your blades these guys have givin me problems in the past so if you go there dont carry a blade also Knotts Berry farm is pretty bad also.
DisneyLand has never givin me a problem,I have been twice this year and they only looked in my girlfriends purse they did that to all purses and backpacks etc.But I carried my cs xl voyager with no problems.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is horrible when it comes to security. I went with a bunch of friends a few months ago and the security guards there made one of my friends throw away her pepperspray and pocket knife (wasn't anything too fancy, but still). She asked if they could just hold it for her and she'd come back to pick it up when we left and they said no.

Sarcoblaster,I heard there is a big lawsuit with Six Flags because of these problems,I know one thing that place is horrible because there security thinks they are freekin untouchable and they abuse there "power" when they start harrasing people who go there to have a good time. These bastids wouldnt let me in until I took off the chain on my wallet and put it in the car.So needless to say I havent been back to that place in about 8 years.

Another good thing about Worlds of Fun, is that the price is still down to earth. You can get in for less than $22 with a can of Mt. Dew! (of course that's before tax), But compare this to Disney World at around $50 per person! I know there may not be as much "stuff" as DW, but it still is a lot of fun, he he, "Worlds of Fun!" Some awesome rollercoasters! Just make sure your knife clips are TIGHT!

Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo. I last performed there in 1999, so this may not be true anymore. Back in the day, there was a well stocked knife shop with BM, Spyders, Bokers and a full time Knife maker making awesome and expensive custom bowies. Many folks carried large knives as part of the costume of a mountain man. They also have (had?) a shooting range for black powder shooting. Security was trained to be helpful and not at all confrontational. Very customer oriented at that time. Bring LOTS of money though as it is VERY expensive.

I agree, WOF was very well priced. I don't need all the schtick of WB or Disney to enjoy some badass rides. And with the sensible park rules they have I would gladly pay to go there again whenever I am in the KC area. This was my first time there. I am from StL and have been to 6 Flags quite a few times. I would rather go to WOF any day of the week.

It sure is great to hear about places like this. As someone has mentioned, let's get a list started of venues all over North America with similar, sensible attitudes. IMHO, voting with your wallet usually has an effect in the long run - whether it's cars, knives, or theme parks.:D
