I keep my knives in their original boxes in my nightstand drawer when they are not in rotation. I want to get rid of all the boxes and store the knives in some kind of a storage box.

Something like this but a bit nicer looking. I'd like multiple drawers to seperate out my knives, multi tools and SAKs. maybe not as deep but wider than the one below. I also don't care for a glass top style case. help!

Gonna keep an eye on this thread as I'm curious to see where it goes. I was just looking for a similar solution not too long ago. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find anything without spending at least a few hundred dollars. I ended up laying felt down in one of the drawers of the large executive desk I use as my computer desk/sharpening station, and then sticking all my folders in felt lined tackle organizer boxes. I have all my fixed blades on display on a book case in my man cave. Not ideal.

Go to woodcraft.com and search “tool chest”. You’ll find a good assortment of wooden chests similar to the one pictured above, though most of theirs are bigger and have more drawers. They mostly run in the $1K-$2K price range, but they sure are pretty.

At the other end of the range, Walmart/Target/etc have a world of similar but cheap plastic units. Many of them would suffice and they’re pretty reasonably priced, but if I had one of those I’d keep it in a closet (which--security-wise--might not be a bad idea).

I tried Walmart. Their arts and crafts containers are too small, the home stuff is just too big and clunky :(

Local store availability is usually limited. Check what they have available online with free local store delivery. It’ll be a wider selection to choose from. Check those Woodcraft tool chests, though. I’ll never have a collection of any real value but if I did, I’d have it housed in something appropriate like one of those. Oh well... another of those projects to do if I ever win some big lottery jackpot...

I post this every time it comes up, but I really think they are damn near perfect for the use. Hard to beat the price and you can fit 12-15 per unit. Stackable, comes with drawer liners, easy to throw in the safe...

Are the shelves deep enough to hold knives in their boxes?

At 12-15 per three shelf box I would need a lot of those.

I have a wood drawer unit by Adeptus. It has 6 shallow knives that are perfect for knives and similar gear, and 2 deeper drawers that are good for slightly larger stuff, total height about 40". They have smaller models too.

This is EXACTLY what I had in mind. Thanks man!

Glad to hear. I always feel weird reposting these silly things, but they really work great for most knives.

Maybe some Spyderco boxes, but most others definitely not because they are too shallow. Regardless, these are really too small to use for the boxes.

But they are deep enough to double stack some smaller/thinner knives (my Benchmade users are mostly regulated to one drawer which probably has 8 or 9 knives in it). Not all of my knives live in the drawers, and I'm trying to limit my self to two units, rather than the four in the pic. Rotating 50 knives is ridiculous, right?

Very similar to the closet for shoes. But the box with the Amazon looks very good. If the seller works with delivery from https://clearitusa.com/ then I will think about acquiring this. There are a couple of recently purchased knives that can look very beautiful in such a transparent "package".

Why not just keep them in the nightstand drawer where they presently are stored. I just keep mine loose in a nightstand drawer. The second drawer from the top. Plenty of room and I can see what's in there.

I picked up a Cobalt tool cabinet/drawers. Three drawers that get deeper from top to bottom with a shelf on top all under lock. Comes with a nice shelf liner. I have around 75 folders and 25 fixed blades stored. I did this out of necessity as I kept losing track of where I was leaving knives in the house. It works great with the exception that its almost too heavy for me to move anymore. I'm sure any of the major tool companies will have something comparable.
