Looking for:

-Folder
-Combo-edge
-3.x"+ blade length
-s30v steel
-Axis type lock (like Benchmade)
-Ambidextrous
-Under $100 STREET price

Would also like (but not require):

-Spring assist (can't be auto - laws of the People's Republic of MD)
-Black blade

Thoughts, opinions?

From my searches... The Benchmade 551 comes soo close, but has 440v. I hear great things about the RSK MK1, but it's a plain edge. Something like the Sog Trident fits the bill but it's AUS-8.

i don't think it can be done if you just have to have s30v as well as the AXIS. i know there is no assisted-opening BMs, only autos. also, i think BM only uses s30v andthe AXIS in their limited editions (941 or something), which is gonna run ya way higher than 100 smackers.

all that said, i'd suggest the 806SD2. combo-edge, black blade, D2 (you're not gonna notice much difference from s30v in general and even hard use), can be had for $100 if you really shop around, 3.9" blade, and it's ambidextrous.

Appreciate the quick reply! Yeah, looks like the $100 price point will have to be removed, but if it means quality then that's fine!

The Benchmades do seem very nice, I will look into that one, thanks!

Anyone else?

Okay,
I've narrowed it down to the Benchmade 551 and 732. Main difference (besides price) will be the steels.

440C seems good enough for me, and the price is right!

Neither of these have a combo edge, but...

The Doug Ritter BM Griptilian, aka RitterGrip is only $5 over your price.

There's a Mini Griptilian version, which is my favorite EDC which is smaller all the way around (the blade is 2.88"). It's $0.05 under your price limit!

They are both great knives. There's only one place to buy them, though. It's a special version.

I agree with stieg the Ritter Grip seems like the best bet in your price range, if you move up a bit you might be able to get a 710 or an AFCK

Camillus Cuda Dominator.

3.65 in S30V blade available plain or combo
Titanium FRAME Lock, Much better/stronger than an axis
Assisted opening technology

They also make a cheaper model called the heat with Zytel handles and Aus-6 or 8 (I forget which) blades that is otherwise identical. Can't go wrong with Camillus :)

OR

Spyderco ATR (even better) get a use of their compression frame lock and you'll be ready to put those Benchmades in the drawer where they belong :D

Both of these are over $100, the Cuda is close to $200 and the Spyderco retails for close to $300 (but can be found cheaper) You do often get what you pay for and these two are as good as it gets, unless you decided to go with a large Sebenza :D

I second Spydiefan04's suggestion of the Camillus Dominator, S30V, Assisted Opener, many places around I see 'em in the $150-165 range. The Heat is the same general knife with Zytel handles and AUS-8 and can be had for right at 50 bucks.

Doesn't have axis lock, but has an awesome speed safe assisted opening / G10 scales - although it is made of s60v steel instead of s30v - Kershaw avalanche - and its only about $60 street price
