Aside from scouring the internet or local shows and waiting for one to pop up, are there any other suggestions on where to find this discontinued knife? I think it's become my holy grail of the month.... :)

check fleabay I just won one recently they pop up from time to time. I very rarely see them for sale on the forums though for some reason.

Yep, check feebay. There was 2 of them the last week or two. One had a wrong title stating S35VN, when it was an original Classic MM........I have always wanted one too. It took me forever to find my small classic MM. Its the same as a 21, but more squared off and there is just something about that Classic MM engraving that has always drawn me to them.

So you're the one that won that bid yesterday evening? I was about to bid on it, but had cold feet.

yeah sorry about that.... :o

also I really like the extended bevel at the finger indent. but dont worry youll find one it seems to depend on the time of year, there are multiple waves in which various styles become more prevalent.

Thanks for the info. I checked it out, but there were no plain large classics, only small.

I did place an order for a large 21 with another company and I should have it in 2-6 weeks.

I guess I got lucky. I was just poking around on an online retailers site and not only did I find a small classic, (I prefer the small) but it was left handed. Yoink! It was mine. :)
I didn't even know how rare they were, let alone a left handed one until I had it for a while.

I found one(micarta) on garbagebay a while back. It was brand new in box w/papers etc.. It was interesting to hold it up to a 21 and pick out the differences. After a while, i sold it here in the forums. I much prefer the lines/feel/look of the 21.

I agree I think the lines on the 21 are a bit nicer maybe even a little more comfortable but that finger bevel on the classic and the fact that its so hard to find just calls to me.

Interesting - I always enjoy reading these discussions. :) I have some of each and honestly never really notice the difference until/unless I put them side by side and even then only if I look carefully! :D

I am lucky enough to have a few of them which I intend to hag on to. For some reason I have always been drawn to the Classic MM models with wood inlays :thumbup::thumbup:

Good luck on your search, hope you get what you want.

I prefer my 2010 micarta 21 over the Classic micarta I once owned for overall feel and handling. The classics detent is not as strong so people who have a hard time opening the 21 might prefer the Classic.

I found a small classic, right here on BF. it's in the pocket right now. Used, with all the paperwork, box, etc....
