I'm looking for a large custom tactical folder. Something well made with a 5 inch blade and just nasty looking. Any suggestions photos would be a plus.

Thanks TJ

I concur with comodorewheeler! Matt makes awesome, awesome knives. You can not go wrong with a DDR either.

<-------slapping self on forehead! DUH, how could I forget Jens Anso! He makes some big and bad knives!! Jens' knives ROCK!! I currently have a Rebel. And I can not believe I forgot Kevin Wilkins! GREAT knives!!

I'll throw Mike and Audra Draper into the mix, along with Kit Carson, Tom Mayo, Rick Hinderer and Dav Winch......Charles Marlowe does a real nice BIG folder, too. :)

These are all 5"+ blades that I've come across over the years.

Dudley, that is one impressive stable of oversized folders! One comment about Charles: While he has made a few of the best oversized folders in existence, he does not make a habit out of making folders of that size, and he told me that he has been referring customers to Matt Cucchiara, among others, for knives that big.

Dawkind: WOW!! Those are some amazing knives!! Nice collection!! Thanks for sharing with us!! And did I say WOW?!

Check over at www.arizonacustomknives.com under Brad Duncan. Julie has one of his Monster folders for sale right now. It has a 5.25" blade of S30V and a handle length of 6.25" for a total of 11.50". Indeed it is a MONSTER!!:thumbup::D

Thanks forthe replies. I have 2 Brad Duncan's I currently carry one of his Whiplash ball bearing flipers.
I been looking at Warren Thomas & J W Smiths stuff any opinions?

Thanks TJ

I personally do not care for Warren Thomas' works. They just do not appeal to me.

I DO have one John W. Smith knife, and it is an exceptional knife!! I highly recommend his work.

I've owned several of John W. Smith's folders, and I will highly recommend them. The build quality and fit and finish of his work is top shelf. Not sure if I've ever seen any tactical folder with a 5" or bigger blade from John, but I'm sure that there is stuff out there that I don't know about.

Steve Ryan practically invented this catagory, and is still the master of the big!
