hello knifemakers.

I'm looking for a little piece (2"x2" or so) of stainless damascus for a little project. I can order an entire blank but was hoping one of you guys might have a scrap piece laying around? Thanks, yall.

2x2xwhat ?
Are you looking for something rough forged or finished and etched.

If I recognize your name from BayouShooter I’m in central La.

What thickness do you need?

Anything.17-.25ish. I'm looking to make a cross pendant possibly.

OH yeah. What's up 357. Yep I'm on there also. Not as much last few years but I still drop in. I'm just south of baton rouge.

I will offer you some advice about making jewelry from knife type damascus.
It may rust, and it has a bad habit of putting a dark stain on white shirts/blouses. Fully hardening will reduce this. Stainless damascus isn't stainless or rust resistant unless it is hardened. As JT said, the make an austenitic damascus tat is better for non-knife blade tasks like knife hardware and some jewelry. Rings made from damascus can make a dark stain on your finger and can rust easily due to the acidity, salinity, and moisture of your skin and sweat. Damascus rings need a liner of silver or gold.
Another choice for crosses and jewelry is mokume gane. I have made mokume in the past with the back layer in silver or gold. This makes it wear well as a pendant. You do that as the last step pattern working the billet.

Thanks JT and Stacy. What about putting hardening and putting a clear coating on it? Either epoxy or even a true 2 part clear coat?
