Looking for a lockback

I realize many of these threads exist and I have looked at just about all of them but found nothing that jumped out at me. Here goes, looking for a hard use lockback at under $30 as the only real reason I want one is because I don't have one yet. So a knife that could be IF needed used in a survival situation in the back woods lockback. Blade length is not a consideration although I tend to like knives 3" and over in blade length purely for aesthetics. Considering a buck 112 or a spyderco all steel cara cara. In general I don't really like spyderco but their all steel shinyness is somehow growing on me. So let the suggestions fly.

Well I'd say Ka-Bar 4070

I have one, it seems to be well-built and plenty strong. I have steel handled CaraCara too, and although I like Spydercos I prefer this KaBar over CaraCara. CaraCara has (imho) better fit and finish, can be easily closed with one hand, has better ergonomics... So why do I like the KaBar more? I don't know:)

Good luck

If you like them large check ourt lone wolf knives Harsey t3 Ranger. the knife is built like a tank. Their T2 model is a little smaller with a 4 inch blade and is very strong as well.

I would recommend the Byrd Cara Cara, but with G10 or FRN as opposed to the all stainless version. The stainless-handled knives are heap heavy, and slippery to boot. Another good one to consider is the Benchmade Pika 2:

You can't go wrong with a Buck 112 though. If you're into traditional knives, that's a good way to go. Another option would be a Moore Maker lockback- collectorknives.net has some in yellow synthetic with carbon steel for $25.

For a $30 lock back, a Buck 110 sounds like the answer, if you catch one on sale. You might look at a Spyderco Delica for just over $40 in many places, or a Spyderco Native for about the same price.

The Cara Cara might be another option. I don't have one, but I do have a Byrd Wings, which has one of the same blades, and can't complain, although the first several knives I listed seem superior.

I might recommend the BM Mini-Ambush, too. It has an axis lock, which popular wisdom suggests may be better than a lockback, and runs about $31. A great value.

+1 for the G10 Cara Cara. I have one and I love it. I edc an Endura, but when I'm flying or doing something where my knife could be lost I take the Cara Cara since its so cheap to replace and doesn't hold the same sentimental value as my trusty old Endura.

Well I had a 112 and didn't really like it so therefore beat the crap out of it digging holes cutting wire etc. and it survived it all and is now happily retired with my current girlfriend. So in a way for me not liking it it was my favorite knife for all the abuse it survived and all the use it received.
