Looking for a locking folder, 3.5" blade

Need some help here. I am looking for a folding knife, prefer a synthetic handle (FRN, or other), 3.5" clip style blade or drop point, plain edge, any type of blade lock, AUS-8 steel or better, also could be G-10, but no metal handles. Currently carry a CS Voyager medium clip blade. Just wish it had a 1/2" longer blade and a little bit longer handle. And a price at $100 or less.

Thanks

You need a 3.5" blade? The Benchmade 551 with a blade of 3.45" would be perfect. It'll cost alittle more money than the Cold Steel Voyager that you now have (but well under your $100 limit)...The few extra dollars is WELL spent as the Griptilian is an excellent folder! The handle of the "Grip" has a much more substantial feel to it than that of the Voyager (it's thicker, longer, and has dual steel liners), the Benchmade Axis-lock that it has is "top-notch", and the 440C blade steel is pretty darn good.

You have roughly 4 million options but if it were me I'd go with one of the suggestions that have already been made.

If you want something good that's leaves you plenty of budget room though I think you'll find Spyderco may be the way to go. Centofante III perhaps?

Look at the Camillus HEAT
3.65 inch aus8 blade
zytel handles
and even assisted opening (can be converted to non-assisted)
and at a great price
Good Collecting !
JOCKO

You can't go wrong with the Grip. On the other hand, Darrel Ralph knows how to design a knife, and my son's Heat is VERY impressive. If you are at all interested in assisted opening, get one.

i like the benchmade griptilian's too. but their blade steel (440) seems to be inferior to that of others. if you were to get a griptilian, try to get one of the D2 models.

by others i am suggesting the following: spyderco delica/endura (vg10), camillus edc (154cm), or higher line benchmade's with 154CM or better steel.

just my 2 cents :)

thanks,

Griiiiiiiiiiiiptillian

BTW, don't get dissuaded by Benchmade's choice of 440C...their heat treat of the steel is great, and:

good steel + good heat treatment > ridiculous unobtanium alloy + so-so heat treatment.

Thanks to all. I will be looking purchasing the RSK Griptilian in S30V. The design was mentioned several times and the cost with S30V is acceptable.

Thanks again.

ps. I have carried the medium clip pe CS Voyager for years, never had the blade chip with moderate use.

Nice choice. I just got mine and I like it alot.

Another alternative that will save you about 25$ is Cabela's coated D2 version of the Griptilian, which they are selling for about $80. You can find it by doing a search for the keyword Griptilian at www.cabelas.com

The Grip is a great knife and it can only be made that much better by put an s30v blade on it. Once you get it, let us know what you think.
