Looking for a look-alike knife - only smaller!

Hi all -
My wife, who gets almost as excited about knives as I do, recently enabled me to get a Ka-Bar Becker BK-10 (happy birthday to me). She really likes the scales - the handle ends below the main body of the scales at each end (what do you call those anyway?) especially attract her eye. But her hand is much smaller than my own. She cannot get a good grip around the scales and the handle is just generally too long, too big.

I have seen similar knives with similar scales on the net, but it is hard to get a feel for them (so to speak). Is there a knife with scales like the BK-10 (BK-2 etc) with similar value but smaller? Say a 8 inch instead of 10 inch with scaled down handle dimensions?

Pictures would be helpful. Thanks for your help.

Cheers, Ed

BK16, or, you could go a little smaller with the BK11 (that doesn't come with scales, but they can be purchased)

(The 11 really is smaller, I promise)

Took some new pics that will help more.
This is a BK16 with a BK2 (which is comparable to your 10 in overall length/height)

And here are 3 comparably sized knives; all of which I like. Each one has features I prefer over the others; so which your wife would prefer will depend on her taste (and maybe how much of a fuss you make). BK16, ESEE 4, HEFT 4

My thanks for the replies to my [somewhat strange, I'm sure] question.

I showed my wife the BK-16 compared to the BK-2 (which I understand uses the same scales). Her thought was that it looked like the scales on the BK-16 made it look like it was intended for basically the same size hand as the BK-2 & BK-10, how-be-it in a different form factor (and she likes the "suitcase handles" of the BK-10). I found pictures of the BK-11 with the optional scales, but they have almost no relationship to the design of the scales on the BK-10 that she likes and is looking for.

The ESSE-4 has the finger stop drop at the front of the scales, but is conventional in the back. Nice knife though, wouldn't mind owning one myself. :-)
My wife still hopes there might be a properly sized knife (perhaps similar to the ESSE-4 and the BK-16) but having scales more like the BK-10/BK-2.

I know she will be looking carefully for what she wants at the next gun & knife show we attend. She thinks long-term and usually isn't satisfied until she finds what she wants. Not a bad trait in a wife. :-)

The straight down shot doesn't give a feel for the difference in thickness - sorry. I'll take a side shot that will show the difference...once my camera battery is charged.
In the meantime this shows the difference in just the scales - the BK16 in front, and the standard scale in the rear. (also, remember that the difference in scale thickness happens on both sides of the blade, and that the BK16 blade is slightly thinner. The BK16 handle has that familiar Becker feel, but it's definitely smaller.

That is a great perspective, thanks for posting that. I would enjoy introducing my wife to the great Becker line.

Her impression on seeing this photo and going back to the earlier comparison is favorable.
Oh wait - this might cost me some money and SHE would be the one with a new knife!

I will see what happens and follow-up here.

This should do it. A standard BK handle next to a tweener handle.

*I didn't use the BK2 for this example because the blade is thicker. I used a BK7 - the blade thickness and handles are the same as your BK10.
The tweener is still the BK16.

NOW BUY THE GIRL A KNIFE, ALREADY!

LOL.
Ordering is commencing (she jumped onto the net on her IPad). :-)

Thanks for the help. Next she will be looking at kydex sheath and micarta(tm) scales.
This Becker stuff is a disease.
