I'm feeling Guilty.:grumpy:

I stored my collection some years ago. (Over 250 pcs) The AZ climate is so dry I thought no harm would come to anything. Almost right.

I have a large custom made Bowie, by a maker who seems to not be in the trade anymore. (Steve Huey OR)

The inlaid handles are slabs of ivory. (Here lies the problem) The ivory dried out, shrunk and cracked at each hammered pin that holds them in place. I need to find someone and have the handles replace by an expert.

I would appreciate any help on this subject. I can send pictures.

I do not know the man but I know a man that does know him and all he works on is Bowie knives. You need to speak with Bernard Levine and get in touch with the gentleman he mentioned once to me that is indeed an expert and is indeed only working on Bowie knives and nothing else.

His forum can be found here on blade forums or on knife forums.

Here is the link for your convenience. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=691

It would be to your benefit to prepare some pictures of the Bowie for showing him I think.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you. Tell him I sent you regarding a statement he made to me in a post about a year ago regarding this Bowie expert.
