I have (and love) a Leek and a Skyline. The tip on the Skyline is a little thin for some purposes, though.

I'm looking for a manual Kershaw in 14c28n or better, with a tip at least as stout as the one on my Blackout.

How are the tips on the tanto Zing and the Speedform II?

Zing I would say is about the same as the Skyline, might be even thinner. Don't have Speedform2.......But my JYD2 is very stout.:D

Storms and Salvos are also good.

And from China the Vapors. The Vapor 3 is new for 2011.

The tip on the Speedform II is beefier than the Leek and Skyline. The Speedform II is similar in size to both knives you referenced. Presz mentioned the Salvo....an excellent choice as well.

I find that the Barrage/Salvo is an excellent non-assisted framelock. Even though it isn't a flipper, it snaps open fast. I think kershawguy has blems for $40.

You can very easily disengage the assisted opening on a kershaw knife. That leaves you with many more options. I like the Kershaw Blur myself.

The Zing has a pretty thin cutting edge, but the tip was pretty stout. I wouldn't suggest hardcore prying, but the tip is a heck of a lot stronger than the Leek.

The Storm II is a nice knife, and the JYD II is also. Both are bigger knives with thick tips, storm might be a bit thicker, the Storm II has the trac inserts but the flipper suck, has the recurved blade and has the 14C26N steel. The JYD II has the G10 which is nice, great flipper, but no thumbstuds, and a D2 steel cutting edge. Not a fan of the Ram, too small, thumb stud things are weird and I think just akward to use.

How about the most recent japanese made Lahar ( I love the VG-10) I think it's been discontiued but you may still be able to find one NIB.
