I am a long time CRK lover. I promised my wife I would only buy one knife/year going forward. With that being said, it can be a 'grail' type of knife. I have been pondering over mammoth CRks with Damascus. I love them, but was wondering what else you all would recommend.

I do not care for heavily tactical knives or flippers. Excellent fit and finish is a must. So, recommend away.

Here are some from my current rotation:

Any alternative I give you would likely be more flash than function... it's hard to come up with an alternative for a CRK grail like mammoth/Damascus.

You can check out Todd Begg, Darrel Ralph & Brian Tighe if you want to see some nice show pieces as an alternative.

If you want a more traditional look- there's always William Henry.

I vote for the Spartan Akribis. It's my favorite mid-tech by far, and I've had several from CRK, Hinderer, Strider, etc. Excellent F&F, very smooth, but it may look too "tactical" for you.

The older Elishewitz folders and autos are quite nice, with touches reminiscent of Michael Walker's folders like engine turned pivots and hardware, guilloché, intricate anodization work, and jewelling. They won't break the bank either.

Some of the smaller Terzuola folders might be up your alley as well, as well as Emerson pre-tacs.
