After opening with a title like that, I had better explain.
I enjoy the discussion here as much as anybody (even if I may not always have the most intelligent contributions :foot

But sometimes, the comparisons between two super steels, or the relative merits of flat versus scandi versus sabre grinds for this or that activity get.... complicated.
It makes me wonder what knives were like when people carried them because knives made life possible, not just easier.
I'm not criticizing modern knifemaking (I swear!), I just wonder if anybody has a link to a museum or other historical reference where I can find out more about knives in Pre-Industrial Europe?
