looking for a neck knife

Hello all, after being a knife enthusiast for some time I've decided it's time to get my first neck knife. When the craze first came about I didn't see the need for one especially with the light weight clip knives that were already popular (I always have one in my pocket). I now think that it'd be nice to have a fixed blade knife to carry as an EDC and a neck knife would be pretty handy.

The knife I'm looking for would have a blade 3.75" or less and have a good utility shape for slicing and possibly skinning and dressing medium size game. Stainless or carbon isn't that important to me but if it is stainless I'd like it to be of higher grade stainless, hopefully something better than AUS 6, 420, or 440A steels. Edge retention is pretty important to me. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who likes or dislikes their neck knives, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.:)

I have a Craford neck knife in 154CM that I wear on occassion. It is a great knife, and wouldn't let you down. It is a 3" drop point blade, which works great for utility.

check out the becker Bk11 it may meet your needs or one from newt livesay or you could get a arclite from a g russel with D2 steel.
hope you find what you want.

AG Russell offers the Camilus Arclite in D2 steel and with a Kydex sheath for $50. The blade length is 3.25" and D2 is MUCH better than the 420HC the Arclite usually comes in. It sounds like just what you are looking for.

Murray Carter makes some very nice neck knives. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. He also uses Japanese steels to make them, some very interesting stuff. The only drawback is that he live in Japan, but he ships anywhere in the world. He is also an ABS Mastersmith, so worth looking into. I should have his contact information lying around somewhere from the 2003 Guild show. Email me if you're interested.

take a look at the BM 160. it's very light and it's blade shape looks like it would be ideal for skinning small game. i got mine in 440C at the local retailer for $40. blade might be a little small though.

Hmmm they may not look like much to some and other love them but how about a Perrin ? I have one in 440C and a friend of mine has a forged carbon steel one (don't remember the exact steel) but they both are great performers.
