Hi Everyone,

I haven't purchased a knife in a long time but am looking to add a new blade to the collection. I am planning to get a benchmade from the site so the build your own is an option for me or any of the configurations that they offer. I need some suggestions.

The only benchmade I currently own is a standard plain edge 154cm Grip. The knives that I generally carry are.

-Spyderco Delica 4 vg10 satin
-Spyderco PM2 s30v satin
-Spyderco Manix 2 s30v G10
-Benchmade Griptilian

I would like a knife that can be used in an EDC role (blade length somewhere between 2-4.5 inches). I like s30v steel and g10 is probably my favorite handle material although carbon fiber is a close second. I also want a straight edge (serrations are a no go unless you give a really good reason why they would be useful in an EDC role).

I have primarily been looking at getting a mini grip (maybe with the sheepsfoot blade) or the bugout but am open to suggestions.

Thanks ya'll.

I would suggest finding a dealer and putting your hands on a few to find the one that calls to you.

I do like their modified sheepfoot and reverse tanto blades for EDC.

If it's not to big for you to carry maybe check out the contigo?

I just received this beauty last week and love it. I think it checks most of your requirements .(Rift)

Do you think the 940 is a good EDC knife or more of a "cool" knife that isn't as practical?

If you are ok with tool steels, a Mini Grip in M4 or a Spyderco Mantra 1 would be where my money would be spent.

If you want stainless, a Mini Grip in 20CV or a Spyderco Spydiechef would get my dollars.

Personally, for a smaller folder, I want better slicing geometry, so one of the above Spydercos would see my coin before the Mini Grip. That is paying no mind to the fact that the Mini Grip does not fit my hand and based solely upon the thicker BTE measurements of 3 Mini Grips that I have owned vs the Mantra 1 that I do own and Mantra 2 that I used to.

A Spydiechef (1 or 2) will likely be my next production purchase of a modern knife (non-traditional).

Another vote for the 950 Rift.
I would go for a 943 over a 940... but that's me.
