Hi, I'm looking for a new edc folder and was wondering if you guys could give me any ideas. First of all my budget is 30 to 40 dollars. The blade size should be between 2 1/4 to 3 1/4 inches. It needs to be deep carry. And the steel should be nothing worse than Aus-8. Assisted opening would be ok in a smaller blade, but anything larger than 3 inches can't have it. It would be cool if it was made in the US but not required. I was looking at the Sog flash 1, any thoughts on that. Just so you know what I like the kershaw skyline would be perfect (a little big) if it have a deep carry clip. I hope I'm not asking to much. Thanks for the ideas.

There is a line that has 3 different sizes, Tenatious, persistance and Resilience

I didn't realize they were that inexpensive, I guess I've never looked into those models...... note I did not use the word (cheap). Any Spydie at that price is a good buy.

I havent had a chance to try them, but a lot of people rave about em'. Maybe if you get a couple more bucks you could check out the Delica line.

The SOG Flash 1 is a good knife, but it is pretty small (which is not necessarily a bad thing). It really does disappear in your pocket and remains unnoticeable to you and most others (the exposed part of the clip is also small).

The Buck Vantage Select is another with a similar style clip. It's a bit bulkier than the Flash 1, but it also has a wider blade. Even though it's 420HC, Buck does some pretty good stuff with their heat treat of it. The Vantage Pro comes in S30V and sometimes drops to your price range on the secondary market.

The Kershaw Cryo is another good one. If you carry tip-down, the whole knife sits at or below the pocket, but tip-up will expose about 1/2" of the base of the knife. It is pretty heavy for its size, but it does feel very solid in hand. The 8Cr13MoV steel is decent.

The Spyderco Dragonfly2 has a somewhat deep carry clip as well. It leaves about 1/2" sitting above the pocket as well, but the wire clip does stay pretty invisible. The standard Dragonfly uses VG-10 steel, which is an excellent blade steel. The Dragonfly2 w/ full Spyderedge does fluctuate a bit around the upper end of your price range, and the plain-edge one usually only drops to that on the secondary market.

Look at the A.G. Russell Orca. Very nice inexpensive option. Might be just a tiny bit on the large side, though.

Thanks to all who replied and a big thank you to flarp. I decided to go with the buck vantage avid small which is in the series that flarp mentioned. I just ordered it and can not wait to get it. Anyway just a thank you to those who replied. P.S. The Avid series of vantages comes with 13c26 steel so that makes it the middle ground between the Pro models and Select models in case anyone was wondering.
