Hey all,

So the building I work in has some ridiculous knife rules and I'd like to get my hands on a new knife so I don't have to worry about leaving it at home. The following are the parameters I need to meet:

-2" or less length blade
-Folding blade
-Carrying clip

I'd like to keep the price in the realm of $20 - $50, but am not set on that. If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be very welcome.

I think it was recently discontinued, but the Spyderco Chicago might work.

Funny enough the price isn't the problem, I just don't know too many blades with a 2" or less blade, haha.

The smaller brother of the Spyderco Tenacious, the Persistence may fit your parameters.

If you want a fairly large list, go to knifecenter and sort their folding knife section to 0"-2".

This is an awesome idea. When you find a knife(or 5) that sparks some interest you could search through the threads here and research what people think of it(them).

Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite is another option. I have a serrated one and I’m pretty happy with it. Granted I haven’t used it much but it seems pretty well made.

Definitely worth a look.
Another of Spydie’s smaller offerings that is a winner is the Ambitious. Great little knife!

Just something to think about as there may not be a ton of knives that fit your parameters, does it have to have a clip ? If you can bring yourself to do without a clip there are also tons of traditionals that would fit the bill.

You could also take one of the smaller Spyderco's that doesn't have a clip and attach a suspension clip to it.

Spyderco Ladybug. $40 or so.

Boker Wharcom or Subcom. I like the Wharcom blade shape myself. Both around $25-30.

Why not go with a Spyderco Urban in K390 and have the blade reground to lose 1/2"?

The alloy alone would be my draw...

If not that, I would look for a small HAP40 sprint. Maybe a Ladybug or Manbug.

Spyderco manbug (no clip) or Chicago
Cold Steel micro recon
Buck nano Batman <$20 (no clip)

The Rike Hummingbird recently caught my eye at $150

A.R.S. flip shank is another higher end option. Curtis custom Nano or the cheaper Boker+ version.

kershaw chive is at 1.9" blade.
cold steel micro-recon has 2" blade

For me, the hardest part would be finding something with enough handle to work with that small of a blade. I know a few fixed blades in that realm but not as many folders. You could get a pocket clip slip (collector knives sells them) for a traditional and put something like that in there if one-hand opening isn't necessary and it grabs less attention to boot. I think most peanuts are under that size range but I'm sure there are others in the multi-blade varieties. Not what you asked for but may be a solution and have enough handle to feel comfortable with.

This is why I suggested a Spyderco Urban and drop the tip back a bit.
K390 steel, decent grip, slip joint with a clip and one hand opening.

Kershaw Launch 4 is a good one if you can have an auto. Picked mine up on the exchange in your price range and it was essentially new.

If you're going to consider folders then maybe you should look at neck knives too.

My little Brous Silent Soldier is a great little neck knife. I think there are CRKT Minimalists with under 2 inch blades.
